Dug out the Ultras to give them an update for the new codex. Hadn't made any major changes to them since fourth. The old "stand there and shoot at stuff" method doesn't work well for marines anymore so gonna try adding some speed and drop pods to my army. Trying to come up with a decent list. Here goes:

HQ
Tigurius
Chapter Master - Artificer Armour, Bike, Thunderhammer, Shield Eternal

Troops
10 Tactical Marines - Meltagun, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod
10 Tactical Marines - Flamer, Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod
5 Scouts - Sniper Rifles
5 Bikes - 2 Grav Guns, 1 Combi-Grav, Melta Bombs

Elites
9 Sternguard - Melta Bombs, Drop Pod
5 Legion of the Damned - Melta Gun, Combi-Melta, Multimelta

Fast Attack
Stormtalon - Typhoon Missile Launcher, Assault Cannon

Heavy Support
3 Centurions - Grav Cannons & Amps, Missiles, Omniscope

Centurions and Scouts hold my deployment zone, Tigurius goes in the pod with the Sternguard and uses Warlord trait on them when they land, then buff them with Divination on following turns. CM tanks in the bike squad then goes off to club things to death. Legion pops whatever vehicle is the most annoying when they drop in. Stormtalon should be enough for anti-air for the people I tend to play against, not a huge amount of flyers. One guy plays a heldrake. Any thoughts? Also wondering about that setup for weapons on the Stormtalon. Typhoon is expensive but seems good. Could switch to skyhammer and hand out some more upgrades to squads though.

First, Welcome to Dakka.

Your list looks pretty solid.

You might want to consider swapping the flamer tacs in the pod with some assault marines who've swap their jump packs out. Sure, you loose a scoring unit, but should do the same job for fewer points.

The TML is a nice weapon for the talon, but IMHO is not worth the price you pay over the skyhammers. There are a large number of people who advocate it, so my opinion is not the only one out there. YMMV.

I like bare-bones starnguard. I fielded them like that even when combis were 5 points each. With the price hike, I think more people will start noticing what they can do besides just being a combi alpha strike delivery system. I might splash a c-melta or HF or two into the squad, as a just-in-case measure, points allowing.

I'm not sure how well the cents will do without a wall to hide behind. Just keep them away from plasma/pie plates/grav guns and they should do OK.

Yeah, I should be able to find a piece of terrain to hide the Cents in at the very least. And I agree about the sternguard, I've never been a fan of combi-spam with them, and even less now since the update. Things seem to work better when they're kitted out to do one job specifically (sort of how elder aspects are). I'll give them a try and may see if I can put in couple HF or Combi-Meltas if I feel I need them. I had been thinking before about the assault marine option, but I think I want to try to keep the number of scoring units I have. So much stuff just obliterates power armour now that I like the redundancy just in case.

I like the list, quite a bit actually.

I would consider running TLLC on either the Centurion Sergeant or on his squadmates. Yes, it is a mixed squad, but one that has a similar target profile and allows you some options T1 and more Long Ranged Firepower. You already have quite a bit of Grav on the Command squad so you can afford to lose one or two Cents with it for TLLCs.

I'd prefer either Skyhammer or Lascannon on the Stormtalon, but as is it is just fine.

Personally, I prefer the Grav and Bolter build for the Centurions as you get a ton of firepower out of it. Tigurius also turns them from good to amazing with the right rolls.

I second the skyhammer on the Stormtalon.
I really like your list, it is competitive while not being spammy or boring.

My only suggestion: I would change the Chapter Master. Maybe it is a personal preference, but i believe one beatstick character will not make much difference on his own and he is alot of points..
I would use these points to turn the bike squad in a command squad with more gravs and take a DA Libby with PFG to boost your centurions (divination and 4++ while able to move upfield).
You can also turn the scouts to DA scouts.
I would propose a second Stormtalon or a Thunderfire cannon as points allow

Cool, some interesting suggestions here. I'm gonna magnetize the weapons on the Talon so I can try out different options. Gonna try to stick with pure Ultramarines for now but may look in to allies later if I feel I need them.

He don't need to take DA allies. Tigurius can take Divination, and reroll the spell-rolls also, and with 3 spells he got alot higher chance of getting the right divination than a lvl 2 DA psyker.

The whole point is to have Tigurius with the Sternguard to boost them upfield. The DA Libby boosts units downfield.
If he spends only 95 pts for a DA Libby (sniper scouts are the same cost) he gets rerolls on the cents and a 4++ and good physic defence.
