I've been going to the Folsom Hobbytown store to play 40k for a while, but the whole scene died recently when the organizer that sets up for free play isn't doing it anymore. The closest store I can drive to is 25 minutes away in Roseville (A-1 comics), but I want to know if there's anyone in the Sacramento area that's willing to hook up maybe once every two weeks? I can drive, but I don't want to drive somewhere that I can't be sure if I can get a game.

Hit up me in the thread or PM me if you're interested in two weeks. I can do only Fridays and Saturdays as I have classes from Monday to Thursdays and I reserve Sundays for family time.

You could try http://www.greatescapegames.com/. From what I remember they do have a thriving 40k community there.

I've been there before, but I'm the type of guy who feels more comfortable going with someone.

Great Escape Games is definitely the place to go in Sacramento. Friday nights is the night to be down there for WH40k gaming. The good thing about Fridays is they are open late. Go check them out, you will not be disappointed. Wednesday nights also work.

The staff is very friendly and a lt of people there go solo looking for anyone to play a pickup game with. Everybody is flexible with point limits as well.

7th Edition Tournament Record:

15-2

War in the Mountain GT: Best Overall, 6-0 Dark Eldar

Bugeater GT: 4th, Tournament Runner Up, 5-1 Dark Eldar

Wargamescon: 7th, Best Dark Eldar. 4-1

Thanks for the reassurance there. I usually go to another store down in the bay area with a few friends for 40k. I will plan on taking a trip next Friday, as college eats up Monday-Thursdays.

What part of Sacramento are you located in? As SCP mentioned, GEG has a large gathering on Fridays, but if you want something more intimate there are a number of other options. We have a group that plays in Elk Grove and we're always welcoming to new players regardless of your experience level.

@punchdub

I'm located outside of Sacramento actually (Folsom, CA to be exact). I'm concerned with GEG in a unsafe location (family tells me Howe ave isn't safe at night).

Elk Grove is 40-45 minutes away from where I live, so I would somewhat struggle with going there more than once. If you're group doesn't mind that, then I'm good with joining any group. If you let me know when you guys meet at when and where, I will consider joining.

While it does border on some areas that aren't the best (but far from the worst) the parking lot is lit and on a Friday night there are a TON of people there. You can always ask the register if there is someone else leaving at the same time as you if you're concerned, but I don't feel the need to be overly cautious.

While we have a core group of about 10 players we have another semi-regular and sporadic guests. The best way to see what is going on it to join our Facebook page. Just search for Elk Grove Warhammer Gamers on Facebook. It is a private group of about 70 people, but we'll add anyone to the group upon request.

The area where GEG is located isn't bad. The parking lot is packed on Fridays and there's a ton of people there usually.

Depending on where in Folsom you are, and where in EG they are, it's not that far away. Watt Ave is your friend. It'll drop you off the 50 and put you in EG in less time than trying to use the freeway

Thanks for the info. My car is lended to me by my brother, so he is worried about the car being broken in (he had his jacket stolen in Rancho Cordova from someone breaking his car window).
