This has all the ingredients for a classic film: dodgy Australian accent, dodgy Australian mullet! the great Satan and its Zionist lackey humiliated , and Dr Bashir's in it. What's not to like? BBC news are reporting that Assange will be boycotting the premiere!

It was a joke from the Daily Mash (a satirical UK newspaper)

It does look all sorts of terrible, possibly in a good way, like a Lifetime made for TV movie that somehow got taken seriously. Cumberbatch in that wig is magnificent.

Sounds like it might get a little tooo uncomfortably close to the truth for that self-entitled donkey-cave, then.

What is the tone of this movie? Are they trying to portray Assange as a hero, as a self-deluded lunatic, or are they going some other route?

Those first two are kind of mutually exclusive. Seriously...I can't tell from the trailers or from anything I'm seeing online.

I can’t gather from the trailers what the tone of the film will be. I’m hoping for quite an even handed analysis that invites the viewer to come to their own conclusion. I don’t want the film to bash more over the head with either a pro or anti Assange viewpoint.

I don’t think other half will go with me though. She works for GCHQ and her view of Assange is he is somewhere between a cockroach and that white stuff that accumulates at the corner of your mouth when you're really thirsty. She actually gets angry when she sees the advert for the film on TV.

Even if Assange could go, he can't for obvious reason. But he's not happy with the film.

From what I've seen of the trailer, and read in the papers, it's going to be one man against the evil empire kinda story, with the spy agencies having a change of heart at the end about spying.

It's the sort of role a young Tom Cruise would have played!
