Hi all. I'm a long-time lurker (probably a good 10 or 15 years) and I've finally got the bug to create and account and say hello!

I'm into Warhammer 40K, and used to play quite a bit back in the day of 3rd edition and early on in 4th edition. I've got a battle company and a half of Space Marines painted and boxed up in my basement, but recently I've caught the bug and I'm itching for the chance to paint and play again.

Looking forward to reading and participating here on Dakka!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Thank you for the welcome! My friends and I played 40K for quite a few years, pretty much through all of 3rd edition and the beginnings of 4th until life sort of caught up with us after college. They all liked to hop between armies, but I stayed pretty constant with my Astartes throughout (except for a diversion into Kroot Mercs for a little bit, but that's another story).

So what I've now got at this point:

  • 2nd Battle Company - This is completed and painted, but I feel like the Captain and Command Squad really need to be re-done. All the squads of this Company have all 10 men painted up, although I never really used full squads.

  • 5th Battle Company - I was building these guys specifically for the "Cityfight" battle-zone back in 3rd Edition 40K. They've got their Captain, a three partial Tactical Squads, and one Devestator squad painted and ready for the table.

  • There are also a handful of vehicles, a couple of Rhinos, a Land Raider, a bunch a Land Speeders, a small squad of Space Marine Bikes w/an Attach Bike, and a couple of Dreadnoughts. There is even a "Predator Incinerator" I had built with the VDR rules (remember those?) mounting an Inferno Cannon and heavy flamer sponsons. I see the Blood Angels and Forgeworld have caught on to that recently ... and I'm sure there are other models I'm forgetting, but it's been a while.

Anyway, I'm hoping to get them out of their cases and actually be able to play one of these days again, but most of my old friends aren't really around anymore so ... I guess I need to make some new friends.
