'lo thar

I have played about 12-15 games so far, the majority using my CSM with Daemons of tzeentch allies. I go for a really aggressive game play style, getting Daemon princes up close quickly with Khorne berzerkers (with kharn), a hellbrute and some chosen. I use some MON havocs with thousand sons or regular CSM to hold the line or objectives while helldrakes cause death from above. Meanwhile my daemons deep strike in from behind them, causing havoc behind their lines. This has worked beautifully for me so far, winning the majority of the matches.

Except against Necrons.

Whenever i try this against them whipcoils leap for my DP, scarabs mutilate my brute and hen proceed to tie down my daemons at the back, nightscythes survive relentless vector strikes and then strike back themselves and annihilation barges along with the other necrons.

WHAT CAN I DO TO TAKE THEM ON? (PREFERABLY WITH CSM, BUT ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO STOP THESE SOBs GETTING UP IS WELCOME)

thanks

I have had luck with forgefiends and defilers provided you can keep them outside the necrons range.

Definitly keep your DP away from his wraiths, they are like the hard counter to most MC's. I would try and dakka them down if you can hit them with forgefiends each failed 3++ is in ID wound so that may work with some luck.

Once they are gone if its a DP of Tzeench rerolling failed armor saves of 1 helps as Necrons dont have much low AP fire so he will be pretty tough to kill.

Also you may have luck with driving a land raider into them as they struggle with AV14, use this to deliver some bezerkers or termies and they will wreak havok.

Oblits also are nice to drop in as they have all sorts of tools to deal with necrons, heavy flamer roasts warriors,

Havocs are ok as they can blast away from 36-48 inches and necrons work best at 24.

As a necron player I hate seeing forgefiends and nurgle spawn across the table. Anything that is fast and choppy should really hurt crons. Deep striking or infiltrating melta to deal with the front and side AV13 vehicles is also a little scary. Nurgle bikers with 2 melta guns would stress me out much worse than the turkeys--I run wraiths, ghost arks, annihilation and command barges. Hope this helps; I only feel a little guilty betraying the tomb world as my current project army is CSM.

I agree with you on havocs, tzeentch prince and oblits, but I personally laugh when I see a LR. 10 warriors in an Ark will Swiss cheese one per turn and they struggle to get through the AV 13

Try to wipe out the whole squad in one phase, (lots of shots or attacks) and if you have spare shots, direct them at the wraiths, as they don't have reanimation protocols, hope this helps

Also if you have multiple heldrakes consider keeping the autocannon on one for some extra AA.

No don't tailor lists. It's also that not that great of an anti cron plan. Annihilation barges are just as good at gunning down drakes as night scythes. Between night scythes and annihilation barges it's really easy for crons to dump wounds on FMC and drakes.

I would focus on the Dlord and wraiths first. Just have to dump regular conventional wounds onto then at range.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Warriors die in droves to Baleflamer Drakes, Keep your Daemon Princes exclusively for killing his Vehicles and make sure you are giving them wings so they can cross the board quickly, and get into assault. Avoid Wraiths. Feed units that are meaningless (Cultists) to them and tie them up for a few turns.

I cannot stress enough how great Cultists are. Cheap, effective and they make great road bumps. 2 sets of 35 should do you well.

Buy an Aegis Defense Line as well, as Cultists camping behind one are stupid tough to move if you Go to Ground and maintain your 2+ cover save.

Hope that helps!

When playing necrons, you have to keep in mind a couple of things.

1. Take out an entire squad at a time, if not, you will see some of those necrons you killed again.

2. Most weapons only have a 24 inch range, use your longer range weapons against them, move and shoot outside of that range.

3. the flyers do not have that crazy armor, don't let the cron player trick you into that scheeme.

4. speaking of flyers, if you can intercept the transport flyers when they come in, and hopefully destroy it, the troops have to walk in later.

It's not list tailoring to take an AA option, as there are lots of fliers out there. An autocannon drake isn't completely useless otherwise. Also Night Scythes aren't that good at taking down fliers compared to most other AA options. ABs are only good because they're the best of the non-skyfire options in the game.

Also focusing on the DLord and Wraiths is exactly what a Necron player wants you to do. Never sacrifice firepower that can go toward an Annihilation Barge, as the ABs are about 75% of their shooting. The best thing you can hope to do against a wraith unit with a DLord is to slow it down with a tarpit/speed bump unit, which if you're running Daemons isn't hard to find. If you can keep the wraiths locked down for two turns to go after their ABs you've probably won the game.

The Necrons principlal advantage is flyers and AV 13. When you really get down to it, the enemy list is banging on those two things.

So an army built to kill AV 13 and drop flyers is most likely going to work. Be less agreessive at first and let him expose his assets to long range powerful fire and then pounce when the airforce shows up. Early goal is to knock out the AV 13 shielding and then start the real attack. Using reserves may help you execute that plan better.,

Hold out bait to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and then crush him.
