Hello,
One of my friends told me that 'Cool Mini or Not' is run by one or more of the people involved in the defunct (late 90s, early 2000s) business venture "New Wave Games", an online seller notorious for late orders, messed up orders (both of which happened to me) and straight up not-sending-orders.
I was wondering if anyone can confirm that? If it's true it sheds a lot of light on CMoN's various Kickstarter projects.
On another note, New Wave had some exclusive figures I've not seen anywhere since and I'd love to know if anyone on the CMoN crew has knowledge of the figures, the molds, or who owns the masters. Needless to say I tried emailing CMoN in various sites with no response...

Yep, it's true.
A fact often forgotten, and which my inform your decisions about purchases.
Never affected me personally, and I believe CMON are generally reputable these days, but it may limit the amount of trust I'd place in them, were trust needed in any given situation.
Mierce are the same, having risen from the ashes of Maelstrom Games, but seem to have a great product and made a genuine attempt to atone for past wrongdoing where they could.
Whether either entity deserves a second chance is entirely personal.

Be careful of the knowledge in which you seek.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

And with that answer I propose this thread is locked before it inevitably devolves into something it shouldn't be.

I thought CMON denied it, saying New Wave was just an advertiser.
But that was a while back so don't count on my memory.

So far as I'm aware, CMON have never really addressed it at all. Although I haven't been watching too closely over the years, admittedly.
David Doust, who was the owner of New Wave, was also one of the co-founders of CMON. I vaguely recall people mentioning in the very early days having CMON store orders being shipped from a New Wave address, and a couple people on the CMON forums who managed to get issues with New Wave orders resolved by contacting Chern An (CMON admin), although at some point the stores appear to have gone separate ways, and there have certainly never been the problems with CMON that New Wave had.

Thanks for the answers. I'm mostly just curious, although I am worried that CMoN seems to have developed a "Lets not answer this question or criticism and maybe it will go away" policy as of late.

In my own experience it's more a matter of "let's not answer any questions" rather than a specific question. I've had several issues that I tried to resolve through them to no avail. Not new Wave-like issues. Just site-related.
