Subject: Can Minitaire or Vallejo Air paints be used with normal brushes, not an airbrush?

I have Minitaire paints for an airbrush, but was wondering about brushing them on. So far, I've only airbrushed with the Minitaire, and used GW paints with a normal brush. Would love if I could use the Minitaire for both! But only if the results are good / the paint works well with a normal brush.
Thanks for any thoughts

All I can really contribute is that the VMA paints have the same philosophy, and go on fine, so cannot see any reason why these would be any different?

So with Vallejo Air paints, you feel they work just as well as regular paints when brushed on? Any drawbacks?
I'll edit the title to include Vallejo Air as you're right I think the issue/performance should be the same.

The only "drawback" per-se is that the model air paints tend to be more transparent (useful for airbrushing) so it can require more coats to properly get the color you want. But it works just fine.

Other than you start from a base viscosity that is that much thinner than brush paints? Not really. It's not something I've done extensively, but I found the VMA Hull Red simply invaluable when working on some of my Khorne stuff as a shade colour, the slight translucence meant it blended very well, and the fact I could use it out of the bottle gave a level of consistency in the consistency (!) that I would struggle to achieve by thinning it myself.

I love using VMA with a regular brush. Goes on like a dream. I haven't found Minitaire to be nearly as friendly to brush use. Admittedly, only I tried it with one or two colours and then stopped bothering, so my experience is by no means exhaustive...

Ugh! I hope that isn't the case for me. What didn't you like about it?
Glad to hear that Vallejo Air is so brush-friendly... but I've got Minitaire so that's not so encouraging! I'll give it a try with a brush and see.

Yep VMA is great to brush on. Minitaire is a little weird. It can be fine to brush on, but the paint behaves a little differently - it's very glossy. I've had good success brushing on some colours such as the greens and browns, but others have been streaky. As they're glossy, it can be harder to brush on top of them too.
I haven't found a use for Minitaire metallics yet either. They're very bad to brush on (whereas VMA metallics are generally the best or at least awesome for brush and airbrush) and they're not really that great colourwise imo.

The only pure black I use is VMA Black, and I don't use an airbrush. Needless to say, I use VMA with a brush extensively and find no problems.

Minitaire works fine with a brush but it is very thin and liquid so expect two coats if you are doing coverage.
I do my engines on my wave serpents with a brush and minitaire paint. Comes out just fine.

I often use Vallejo model air to paint by brush. It works very well. The metallics in particular only need one brush stroke.
Heres a pic of a Conquest I painted. All the gold was done with Vallejo model air gold. It went on in one coat by brush.

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

I use Vallejo model air by normal brush and find its really nice especially the metallics they are so much easier to use.
