I stumbled upon this and gave it a try. Have to say it's very good. I was a bit concerned that it hadn't been renewed when I downloaded the final episode of season 2, but just checked and it's being renewed Having been drawn into the world it portrays I was wondering if it was a good representation of similar towns in Wyoming / the US?

Longmeyer is an awesome show. I've watched every episode on Hulu and wish they'd start showing more.

It's a fairly decent representation of the rural western states in the US. It isn't filmed in Wyoming, unfortunately, but it still works visually. They're taking a few liberties with the Indian Native American culture but not to many to really worry about. At least they're not making them look kooky like Norther Exposure did.

I've just started reading the first book which has already raised few interesting differences.

Branch getting shot by a dead guy was a dang good cliff hanger. Lou Diamond Phillips getting arrested. Kate...well total "country". Even though there were like two episodes with the "Dog Soldier" he kind of grown on me

I don't think the TV show is directly connected to any storyline in the novels. Vic and Longmeyer aren't having an affair as they do in the books, for example. No idea if that will change down the road.

Not a bad show, set in some beautiful country.

Also if I remember correctly the actor is from Australia but him playing Longmire is an excellent match up. I will though say Longmire pretty match has it down pat in Wyoming.

I have to say that having read one of the Jack Reacher books, which was based in South Dakota and watching Longmire, I do have a desire to visit these areas and perversely in the Autumn / Winter time. Something about experiencing a proper Winter . I got the same feeling after playing the last Assassin's Creed

I watched a few episodes of Longmire; I liked it, but just kinda stopped watching it. I'll be back eventually since it has LDP in it.

My wife and I enjoy it. Glad to hear that Season 3 is coming.

Don't worry, being an A&E show, they'll likely can it after the next season or the following one...

I've learned through bitter experience never to get too invested in any A&E drama.

I really like the show. I'm a big fan of small-town lawmen characters, though. Always been the type I'd want to be if i had a choice.

Wolf. The one I mention is quite shadowy. The individuals we're talking about I bet you a couple cases of beers they're all tied in with each other. Mainly being a lot of money coming in when the casino is built or oil exploitation.

I also like how as the series goes on, Ferg is portrayed as less and less of "that goofy fat guy". For a long time they never really gave him any character development.

Good show, I wish they actually filmed it in Wyoming. Its shot in New Mexico, probably getting some incentive from the state.

After seeing this thread, I went back to Netflix and saw the first season is now available for streaming. It's always been high on my 'to watch' list, and might have just crawled to the top.
