So my gaming group sometimes plays Infinity and I am thinking of getting some models. For me the hobby in general revolves around the painting and how I like the models but I also dont want to buy an army full of elites or something unusable in Infinity lists. I know I am being a bit lazy not having read the rules or anything but would the PanOceania: Military Order Sectorial Starter fit well within a new army build? I ask because I like the models and I like the Inifinity "Knight" models in general. I was also looking at the Panocia Shock troop starter pack.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Palmer

Greetings and welcome to PanO family.

Elites are a bit different in Infinity. In 300 points you'll typically have few elites supported by few specialists and light infantry. It's possible to build around centerpiece model such as TAG and specialists or run more elite-centric infantry, as long you keep scenario and order management in mind you'll be fine.

Military Order is a fantastic way to get into the game. It has just about every rule you need to master without getting overwhelmed. The continuous collection will very likely resolve around Knights with Order Sargent to support them. Reverse is possible but you get a problem on higher points. There is no model for Serpah, he's defenitly going to be released in the future.

Shock Army is decent. I'm not a fan of Knight of Montesa because he's quite specific and requires tinkering with few other elements. He's not bad just awkward to handle at first. The continuous collection will revolve around Guarda de Assalto or a TAG such as Dragoe or Toni. Toni doesn't have a model, planned for the future.

Military Order starter:
Panoceania - Military Order | 6 models

Shock Army build around Guarda de Assalto and Naga support. SWC can be tweaked around. The most problematic will be specialists for ITS games, since PanO is in awkward place.

Great thanks for the info. Much of this is over my head at this point since I do not know how to play the game yet. But I think I was able to get the gist of what you are saying. lol

I agree with Knight, if you play your cards right you can build an effective list around a center piece model. I've had many successful games with lists built around mini-TAGs such as Aquila or Swiss Guards. Lots of fun to play too!

I ended up getting the military orders starter so that's the beginning and we'll see where it goes from there.

And judging by the artwork it'll be worth the wait. I mean just look at that

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

He comes with his own independently shooting heavy flamer bot.

What's not to like.

Personally, I'm looking forward to covering the first one I see in my club with flammables and dancing around the table, singing "Gonna set the Knight on FIYAH!".

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I'll hold my judgment until I see the model. I really hope it will be similar to the artwork with no silly sword in his hand. Though it is a likely outcome considering it has CCW with EXP qualities.

The Seraph is one of the TAGs where holding a sword is actually encouraged, given that it would look pretty sweet for a Military Order TAG to look like a gigantic knight.

lol Funny I just went through this with my Eldar and my Wraithknight.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
A bit of a silly question but I have skimmed the rules and army lists. As I paint the Knights is there a specific reason why the Knight magister's CCW is glowing red but the Teutonic Knights isnt? I wasnt sure if it was purely artistic license or if it was because certain CCW types (i.e. AP, DA etc) tend to get painted certain ways.
