I havent personally played apoc, but im wondering which book has the rules for special squads (like the line breaker vindicator formation i saw a picture online).

I know theres the IA12 and theres Apoc 2nd edition, but which one as the Space marine specific formations?

Whilst I don't have either book, given the number of views and lack of response:

Apoc formations will be in the Apoc book (almost certainly). Vindicators (that make up Linebreaker squadrons) are not Forgeworld models, so it would be pretty unlikely for Forgeworld to publish rules for them.
If there are Apoc formations that feature Forgeworld models, then it's likely they would be in an IA book instead (exceptions may apply, for example: Leman Russ formations could be mixed-and-matched between GW and FW variants - but like I said, I don't have the book to say for sure).

Apocalypse has the formation in the old 5th edition hardback, on page 117.

Back in Apoc 5th, formations cost points. Now they're free 'bonuses' for bringing the units in said formation. I'd say that if you presented the formation to your friends and showed them the difference between books they'd allow you to field it in the game. After all, apocalypse is all about fun and less about winning anyway.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.
