I'll be play testing this list tonight and so far I think it's a pretty solid list. I'm actually amazed that I was able to take my 4 riptdies and still manage to fit in some nice extras. Outside of riptides, my favorite combination is probably putting a fireblade in a full unit of friewarriors, I just love the sheer amount of firepower at such a low cost of pts (168). My only concern with this list is what most Tau lists have concern with, scoring units. I have some flexibility with my scoring units, with outflanking and deep strike, but I'll for sure have to play it smart with my four scoring units. Also, the tournament I am going to is well known (past two years at least) for having two of the three missions being a modified version of scouring and big guns never tire. This would for sure help me with my scoring potential as well. Let me know what you guys think.

Your lack of troops is alarming but with the Riptides put that much hurt out I doubt it'll matter to much.

I could drop the 12 firewarriors to 7 and longstrike and take the new forgeworld riptide with ewo

It's what I'm hoping for....that and some scenarios which either make longstrike scoring, or my 3 pathfinder squads.....god forbid any self made tournament scenario that makes elite units scoring

The main issue for me of this list is that without ML (or buffmander/farseer...), riptide dont do that much damage.
So you have one buffmander and quite a few pathfinders, but pathfinders die easily and once they are dead (T1 potentially) you have one riptide that will hurt and 3 that will run around.

If you keep them in reserve, the riptides wont do much at start.
So i would look for other ML sources (marker drones maybe, a skyray instead of hammerhead...)

The main point with the 4 riptide lists (such as NOVA winning one) is that you had buffmander with 2 riptides together already and the rest of ML sources for the 2 other riptides.

4 riptide is not so frightening, 4 riptide with TL and ignore cover is, so make sure they keep it

This is not an O'Vesa Star list, he cannot join two Riptides together with a Buffmander. Otherwise you summarized Multiple Unsupported Riptides well.

My take on the list, one too many Riptides. Quad tides is for the O'VesaStar at 1850+ or double FOC levels.

Your Scoring block is weak, Kroot and Firewarriors don't hold up well and will need to be reserved. Without drones your Suits need to be reserved as well. You are lacking AA. Yes, the ECPA HBC Riptide with Buffmander is about one of the best AA units around, at this points level you need additional help. I'd drop one Riptide for a Skyray and more scoring units.

I'd drop the pathfinders and get more troops and a skyray. Pathfinders are so expensive for what they do. They are either out in the front and die quickly or are further in the back and don't have the range to do anything. Riptides do plenty of damage and are very effective sans markerlight. I am a big fan of fireblades in a squad of 12 FW. If you can't live without MLs the fireblades and Sky Ray can give you some. Or you can take a razorshark (forgot the name of the flyer) and give it Flying Ace which gives you 1D3 automatic makerlight hits on every enemy unit in 12".

I have not read the farsight supplement and have no idea how effective the 4th riptide you took is. But why the point sink of the commander? I get what he is there for but thats an aweful lot of points just to give one riptide rerolls to hit and ignores cover. The only time the node and sensor are really worth it is in a farsight bomb where it buffs 8 other suits and 14+ drones.

I'm actually working on a 2000 pt 5 riptide and 2 Wraithknight army myself. It is purely for fun as it will be minimal troop and HQ choices.
