Hi I'm new(ish) to infinity (I've had models for years but have only to date played two games) and I'm looking fo a little advice for a begginer. So far the models I have are:

6 Line Kazaks (one of which I've slotted as the Liutenant and the other five I've made paramedics)
2 Veteran Kazaks, both with visors
2 tanks hunters, both with autocannons
2 scouts, with ojotnicks

Army infinity says this is a legal 300 pt list, I was just wondering if its an ok list, these are the only models I have so far. I really like the "russian" kazak models, and some of the morovian models are pretty cool too, but I'm not a huge fan of the Caledonians, Scots, Americans, or Antipods. I was just looking for some general Ariadna advise i guess.

As an army they will lack in versatility, but that doesn't mean you can't use them successfully.
Plenty firepower and some backup for it.
Still, having 12 models in total will mean, that two of the models move to a second group and will therefore be starved for orders as they cannot tap into the 10 orders of the first group.
That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but be aware, that those two won't do much. They can only serve as distraction and will hopefully cost the opponent some orders to kill without harming your pool.

All in all I'd say playing with russian and french troops is no problem at all (and I totally agree with your taste here). The important thing though is that you shouldn't be to concerned with list composition.
Grab what you have and play some games. Find out what your models can do. Afterwards you will have a better idea which other units will make sense to buy next.
Especially as a beginner you will have a fair share of losses anyway, but will learn a lot while suffering them. It's a deadly game and army composition is a factor, but not the most important one.
Go play!

Thanks for the adivice.

Is it possible to split the groups into two groups of 6 or will they have to be 10 and 2?

Yes, it's possible to separate the larger group on two smaller ones.

Which most players really wouldn't do, because after one or two mishaps you're down to four orders per group. And that can be hard to maneuvre with, especially when two strong units, which you want to use a lot, end up in the same group.

Most players will tell you to aim for a full combat grp of ten whenever possible and will never open a second group without having maxed the first. So rather go 10+? instead of 5+5,6+6,7+7
The trick is to know what to put in the second group:
  • Passive units who will hardly spend more than one order per active turn and really shine in ARO. Total reaction bots for example, but also orderbots/cheerleaders that are only there as meat shield or to bump the active potential of a better model in the second group.

  • Cheap irregular troops, who don't contribute to the pool and won't be the focus of your activities.

  • Impetuous troops that can basically do with just two orders per turn (their own and imp order).

  • If you liked the scots an example of this would be the galwegians. For 6 points you get an impetuous model who can drop smoke to cover the advance of your larger group, and if he gets killed its no big loss because a) he's 6 points and b) he's not taking orders from your main pool. But if it goes according to plan, you get smoke cover for your main group/main heavy hitters without needing to spend orders from your pool of 10.

I'm not sure of a French/Russian equivalent though, sorry. Maybe Irmandhinos (10 points, irregular, impetuous, smoke grenades) but they have some other useful bits and bobs, so you may not want to waste their engineer ability in a low order pool
