Ok, I started a new thread because I just couldn't fit all the things I wanted into my 1500 list. This list takes a lot from what I have seen so far. Tried not to give too much to KP games either, one list I saw had quite a few single TROOP choices like 1 Crisis Suit, I thought during a KP game, that would end badly? This is with Buff Commander + Bodyguards, added to Farsight/O'vesa Star, suggestions before I start buying these models. I also thought about another variation with more TROOPS with the Sub-Commander Torchstar, who also has quite a few older Signature Systems with her....

Take the iridium off of the bodyguard and give it to the allied tau commander. That bodyguard rolls a single 1 and he's gone. Why have the bodyguard anyway, just out of curiosity? I'm also wondering about the target lock on the HBC riptide. Why not EWO instead? In any case, 3 riptide swill serve you well.

The desired effect is what you get when you improve your interplanetary funksmanship.

I was trying to add a little more scare factor to the star with the Bodyguards, they have 2 wounds instead of the normal one and with their ability they auto pass "Look out Sir!" Rolls, hence the reason I added the iridium suit on them instead of the Commander. Not sure about the HBC let me re look that one...

I completely forgot they had two wounds! I'd probably still swap them out for another troop unit or beef up one of your missile teams with some marker drones and possibly a drone controller. More marker lights helps out your skyrays, too. Also you only need one vectored retro thruster to give a whole unit hit and run so that can save some points.

The O'Vesa star is already pretty scary without the bodyguards. A T6 jet pack troop unit is scary enough especially if you add that buff commander.

The desired effect is what you get when you improve your interplanetary funksmanship.

Drop the body guard like someone else mentioned and add the Iridium to the commander, and then stick Farsight, the Support Commander, O'vesa, and a 3 man plasma/fusion crisis team together. Also swap the firewarriors over for sniper kroot.

Also rethink the Skyrays, your army with an O'vesa star should be highly mobile and while I figure you will stack the spare Tides, Skyrays and firewarriors together adding more crisis suits and shield drone bubble wrapping can be a lot of fun.

If you don't mind here is an 1850 list I have been playing around with...

Farsight 165pts
O'Vesa 305pts

Enclave Commander w/ Fusion Blade, Talisman, Warscaper drone, drone controller, and 2x gun drones 212pts

XV8 team #1 256pts
Shas'Vre w/ 2x Plasma Guns and target lock
Shas'ui w/ 2x fusion guns and target lock
Shas'ui w/ plasma gun, fusion gun, and target lock
6x gun drones

XV8 team #2 217pts
Shas'Vre w/ 2x Plasma Guns
Shas'ui w/ 2x fusion guns
Shas'ui w/ plasma gun and fusion gun
4x shield drones

XV8 team #3 217pts
Shas'Vre w/ 2x Plasma Guns
Shas'ui w/ 2x fusion guns
Shas'ui w/ plasma gun and fusion gun
4x shield drones

XV8 team #4 244pts
Shas'Vre w/ 2x missile pods and drone controller
Shas'ui w/ 2x missile pods and target lock
Shas'ui w/ missile pod and flamer
6x marker drones

Standard Tau Commander w/ MSS, C&C Node, Puretide Chip, Onegar Gauntlet, and 2 gun drones 164 pts

10x kroot w/ sniper rifles 70pts

The extra Enclave commander is a bit of overkill but I wanted another CC element in the unit. You could drop it and easily add in another Riptide. I run both commanders, Farsight, O'Vesa, and the gun drone crisis team together, the amount of firepower that unit has is unreal and O'Vesa soaking up shots in front and then using LOS to pass off wounds to the three other ICs is really effective, and the best thing of all is that the unit is scoring.

Sorry to highjack the thread but is there anyway to get a riptide as a heavy choice instead?

Nope.

I did have a question now. I didn't realize that with no FA and only 2 Heavy, that BGNT and Scouring, I won't have much to score with. According to the BRB, Troops don't count in these and it's those that can score. In Scouring, I won't have any FA to score with. Does this affect the ability to win games that much?

Troops are scoring in all game types, its just in BGNT and the scouring the HS or FA are scoring aswelll and net a kill point

Also you do you realise all crisis suits have 2 wounds? not just bodyguards

Ah yes, I read that wrong, thought it said Troops weren't so my bad. Yea I know they are 2, that's why I couldn't understand the statement they get knocked out in 1 blow? Anyhow, plus you get the signature system with the bodyguards.
