In Greek Mythology Eurydice died and Orpheus tried to save her. He failed when he looked at her before they had left darkness breaking his pact with Hades. My guess is that what happened when Septimus asked for her true name. The inquisition got wind of it(remember Talos predicted Octavia being pursued by the Inquisition. Like in the Greek play they are only reunited when they die and both are in darkness(hint hint back in service of the night lords).

Well.... given Decimus, the Prophet of the Eighth Legion, who is heavily implied to be carrying Talos' geneseed, whom Variel specifically noted was having problems with rejection, and that he could probably fix it if the geneseed were implanted into somebody with Navigator genes...

For me, the name kinda tells you all you need to know - Septimus, Octavia... Decimus. It only really makes sence for the new Prophet to be named after a High Gothic number if he's the spawn of two slaves also given numerical designations.

Not to mention what Sothalor said.

I'd say there's enough implicit and explicit hints to assume that Octavia and Septimus are deader than a dead thing.

It would seem more likely that those would be inquisitorial heads since its seems foolish to anger the future of the leader of your legion. Besides they need someone to raise the kid and both would be good candidates.

I'm hoping for a book where septimus and ocavia benefit from the favour of having a son leading a legion and take the role the Kor Phaeron took with the word bearers.

More than likely the kid would've never learned who his parents were, that's why warbands take children when they're infants. You don't need the parents to raise a child, you just need a couple of humans.

Indeed - I'd like to think that the two of them had a good life together but its unlikely.......

More likely is that one (Octavia) or both were taken by the Inquisition, interrogated, and eventually killed - which they likely welcomed by that point. The Night Lords then took the child from some Inquisiton facility where it was being experminted on and transformed him into an acolyte of their Chapter using the usual deeply unpleasant methods of a servent of the Chaos powers..............given what happend to his parent - they could even describe his abduction as a rescue but the twisted nature of the Night Lords means probably not.

I think the character are too valuable to kill off. I Bowden loves to kill characters weve grown attached to but this is a bit much

He can still write about them in flashbacks or even as primary characters in stories - the end of the last novel may not be the start of the next...............but just something that will happen eventually.............

Too much invested in them, I mean he killed off just about everyone else in the story you get red of them and its Just Variel( a one dimensional character who no one likes) and Malcharion who's may not in the literal sense "alive" oh and one zombie cannibal raptor..

GRRM puts it best....

I quite liked Variel...also, someone posted a pretty interesting theory for the two surviving, and Decimus not being the baby...I've gone with that interpretation, like it better for some reason.

In all honesty, who really knows.
I highly doubt they'll go into anymore information about this Acolyte from Talos' gene-seed. All we'll know is that Variel takes his seed, and then goes after Septimus' and Octavia's child. Just leave the rest up to interpretation?
