You don't say right. I pre-ordered a PS4 when they announced it and it was paid for all in cash. I changed my mind and decided to wait. So I've been going in trying to get my money back only to find that they never have enough money to cover it and that I should come back an a specified time and they can give me my money back. Sound familiar to anyone else? So I show up and I get the "O sorry we just made a cash drop so we can't help you today" Never mind that the current manager told me to come back at 5 and they would have my money.

This has happened more than once and each time the Manager with the keys to the safe is not on staff that day. Anyone else had this problem with them? Is there a way to solve it? Getting extremely annoyed at this point. I'm getting the feeling that they are unwilling to refund my money.

Try contacting their manager's boss-- a regional manager or something to that effect?

They are good at delaying, obfuscating, and frustrating when it comes to refunds. Call corporate, but also call BBB and your state's AG to lodge a complaint. At some point they will probably try top give you store credit instead of cash back. Keep the pressure on them or they will never get to it.

i'll just add this to my list of reasons to shop anywhere other than GameStop, the bane of all video game stores.

And i'll leave this little squirrel rant for you to make your day better.

Yea, I learned many years ago that GameStop is a fracking waste of time and only makes me angry when I dealt with them. I honestly have NO CLUE why people continue to shop through them.

But as mentioned before, go over the managers head, at least a ladder rung or two. I had to do that once for the dumbest frigging reason possible, my wife bought me a game for my birthday that I didnt like and the little bastards wouldnt let me exchange it because she didnt have the receipt anymore........... even though it clearly had their stickers all over the bastard, they would only take it for instore credit...so a measly $5 if I remembered right.

I have many other awesome stories from these douche bags that eventually made me say never again. Go over their heads, and for real, file a complaint with the BBB and make sure you get a reference number or case number for your complaint. Itll only take you a few minutes on the phone. Then you call the big wig with that reference number and explain whats going on and what you did. They HAVE to give you that money back if youre within the time constraints and guidelines of the return policies. Period.

In my home country of Ireland, all the other game retailers went out of business

My favorite practice of theirs is to open new games to store the disc, charge them as new/unopened game, but not let you return them because it has been opened.

That's an excuse. Use the internet, you'll even get the games cheaper, and sell your old games for more.

That's exactly what happened with my example earlier too. No receipt and it was opened. Well no gak game stop, you open every new game you get. I just don't understand that company or why people use them.

The store I frequent is better then the others in the area, but it's still damn frustrating at times. I've had several bad experiences with them in recent months. I contacted Gamestop through their website, and the latest issue got fixed right away. I'd suggest going that route.

This. First stop above a manager is the district manager. I've mentioned the idea of calling a DM over employee "forgetfulness" of their return policy ("hey, I know you're on the fence about this game, but there's no such thing as a bad Spider-Man game-give it a try while I don't tell you a word about our return policy on used games that guarantees your money back"). Other GS employees were surprised at his actions and ENCOURAGED me to call the DM. He's your best stop next. Any GS employee can give you his/her name and phone number.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

And if they won't give that number, that's just another bit of ammunition to use against them when you finally DO get the district manager.
