Hey everyone. I'm a long-time wargamer and painter, but up until now I haven't shared much of my work with the online community. I'm hoping to start doing some commission work in the near future, but in the meantime I'll be painting up some models for my own collection, as well as some projects for sale on eBay. The first project I'll be sharing is a Cryx Battlegroup that I'll be placing on eBay after completion, but keep an eye on this blog for some Adepta Sororitas, Black Templars, Retribution of Scyrah, and more in the near future. If you like what you see here, please feel free to send me a PM to discuss having a project commissioned.

Anyway, as I said, my first project will be a Cryx Battlegroup box. I'm hoping to have these finished in the next 48 hours, and I'll be posting WIP shots as I go. Right now I've got them assembled, primed with P3 Black Primer and placed on temporary bases for painting. Please excuse the cell phone shot for now. I'll take real photos when there's more to see!

Thanks to a mishap with a bad bottle of Vallejo Air Metallics, I wasted a lot of time today cleaning my airbrush and starting over from a black basecoat. I've decided to paint the metallics using a brush rather than an airbrush, so I only did the armor panels. The panels were airbrushed first with GW Stegadon Scale Green, followed by GW Temple Guard Blue. The highlights look a little extreme right now, but bear with me. The weathering I'll be doing will tone down the highlights quite a bit.

I just finished blocking in all of the metallics and other colors that will be receiving washes, as well as sponging on some chipping to the armor plates. My Cryxian death machines are looking a little gaudy at the moment, but some washes will fix that.

Here's the Slayer after the washes have been applied. The bone got a wash of Army Painter Dark Tone, followed by Secret Weapon Dark Sepia. The boltgun metal and gold areas were washed with Army Painter Dark Tone and Athonian Camoshade. The boltgun metal areas were given an additional wash of Nuln Oil. Next, I'll be doing some blacklining to separate details of the model. I may take pictures at that point, or I may proceed on to applying weathering.

I've finished the blacklining and applied weathering poweders. I also did a lot of work on Deneghra, including finishing her skin and cloth. After I took this picture, I applied a highlight to the bone areas and sprayed the models with matte varnish to seal in the weathering powder. Just a few more steps to go. Next I'll be applying edge highlights to the blue areas, finishing Deneghra's details, creating OSL effects, sealing with another coat of varnish, and applying edge highlights to the metal areas.

Here's the nearly finished Slayer. All that is left is to apply some coats of matte varnish for protection and apply an edge highlight to the metals (I do this after varnishing to keep the metals shiny). I'm extremely happy with how the blue came out, but the OSL was my first attempt and it's not perfect. I wanted the bases to look very dark and muted in comparison to the models, but I'm not sure how I feel about them. I may add some grass between the cracks, or maybe some water effects. Thoughts? Once they're truly complete I'll take more professional pictures of the whole group.

At this point they're all finished, but Deneghra's cloth parts came out a little shiny, so I used some brush on dullcoat to tone it down a bit. It's still drying, but I'll add pictures of the whole group later tonight. For now, here are the finished 'jacks. I also still need to work on my photography a bit.

These guys have been done for days, but I only recently was able to take proper photos of them. Here they are! I think this is probably the best weathering I've ever done, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. These guys are up for auction on eBay if you're interested in owning them. Next up, I'll be painting a test model for my Adepta Sororitas army.

It has been a while since my last update, but I've found some time to paint up a test model for my Adepta Sororitas army. The gun needs some highlights and the copper needs some cleaning up, but I'm relatively happy with how it looks so far. I'm not sold on the dark urban rubble base. The model is already quite dark, so it might look better with something a little brighter. I could possibly add some snow, or maybe do standard grass bases instead. Any opinions?

Also, the cat destroyed my lightbox and I haven't gotten around to rebuilding it, so I apologize for the harsh lighting

I think that the colour scheme on the Sister Of Battle is really crisp and clean
Rather than the Urban rubble base you could go for a dusty desert themed base with patches of dead grass, I think that would contrast nicely with that deep red colour, as I use it on my Iron lords space marines and it definitely brightens them up as their colours are red and black.
Anyway, nice model and would like to see more

Agree with the desert concept

That's not a bad idea. I had actually considered it, since my black Templars are modeled with desert bases and I will occasionally be using them as allies. However, I'm concerned that the cloth color won't have enough contrast with a desert base.

I use cork on my bases as well as sand and I paint it black and drybrush it with a dark grey and a light grey, it helps to stop the base being so brown and it gives it some contrast. Maybe that could help to separate the colour of your cloth and the colour of the base

I think the res would go well with desert theme
You could even make allied scout units or imperial guard units in camo to give more emphasis to the desert theme
Plus sisters wouldn't wear cameo they would rather have the alien know what killed them

The Cryx group is looking awesome - I really like the armour colour and the weathering. I have a very soft spot for Cryx.

I'm also digging the reds on the Sister, they're lovely and rich.

Thanks! I really love that shade of blue. I think it might be my favorite color to work with.

I'm making some progress on my Sisters. I put together some bases for them, airbrushed the armor, started work on the skin, and basecoated the robes. However, I'm going to have to take a break from them for a bit, as the models for my first commission are on the way! I'll be painting up a unit of Sons of Medusa space marines.

The colour for those bases is perfect! Definitely contrasts with the red very well, nice work!

Hahaha, Just took a second look and realised what you mean, although that sort of colour would look brilliant
