The Crone Worlds have taken my interest fluff-wise, and I'm just wondering what the best source is on these mysterious places.

Path of the outcast [ SPOILER ALERT ] has a whole subsection where they visit a croneworld from the perspective of a band of eldar hunting for spirit stones. As these only can be found on the croneworlds because they are where ishas tears ( another name for soulstones) fell. So rangers go on expeditions to hunt for more as every new eldar born requires one. From what I remember of the book though is that basically every croneworld can vary wildly since the fall. So you have a lot of flexibility on what you want to represent them as.

I would definitely recommend it as it is a good book. The characters delve into a lot of eldar stuff.

Every hint on Eldar surviving the fall on Croneworlds has been eraticated from fluff since 3rd edition.
The only possible Chaos Eldar has reappeared as a normal Dark Eldar.
Just in case you plan an army of Chaos Eldar.

Lol, naturally thats exactly what I had in mind. Just got an old DE codex in the mail, might be old enough to still have mention of that stuff.

Doesn't "Codex: Croneworld Eldar" just have a nice ring to it? I think its the Crone part, such an interesting word

Same nice ring as Codex Chaos Tau, Chaos Grey Knights, Chaos Sisters and female Space Marines

AFAIK only 2nd edition Codex Eldar was ambiguous about Eldar living on Croneworlds. Phoenix Lord Arhra was rumoured to be corrupted, but returned in the new DE Codex as Lord of the Incubi. Dark Eldar are the closest you get to Chaos Eldar (and all C.S.Goto novels )

On logic: A slight theoretical chance of one Eldar being corrupted is not the same as a complete army of Chaos Eldar.

I thought the crone worlds are now demon worlds, being in the center of the warp. Perhaps you might turn to Altansar, a craftworld that somehow survived in the warp for millennia after the fall only to be saved by Maugan Ra.

In the alternative, you could have a DE/Demon combo army, weighting heavily with slannesh units. The eldar are the slaves of slaneesh, forced to hunt their former brethren.

I may have a secenario game on Monday where my (Eldar) goals won't be terribly opposed to the goals of the Demon player, on a map with a bunch of Marines... Should be interesting, but I hope the Demon player doesn't bring anything Slaneshi.

I remember reading somewhere that Chaos Eldar are extremely rare, but the ones that exist one some of the most powerful servants of Slaanesh. Its more likely that Eldar that fell to chaos would have ascended to daemonhood by now, it doesn't seem right to have an entire army of them. Every Eldar is a latent psyker, now marinade that in the eye of terror for a few MILLION years with the direct intervention of gods and you have some idea of power level. If you want to make an army including them, I'd recommend a daemon prince level 3 slaanesh psyker, or a level 3 chaos sorcerer modelled appropriately to represent psudo-daemon hood leading an army of daemons/cultists, and then having 1 in the army wont brake the fluff like a whole army could.

That was in Rogue trader days, before the complete background was reorganized 20 years ago.

From 'dexes, not fluff - see "Atlas Infernal", Tyrakesh market on croneworld Arach-Cyn.
Act I Canto VII
Spoiler:
The vendors, like the pickets and minders that hung off the stalls, were all gibbering, misshapen savages, a community of eldar monstrosities warped by the planet’s malign influence. The fat, antique weaponry pieces clutched by the denizens were largely reclaimed shuriken casters – single shot accelerators primed with grape storms of monomolecular frag. Slipping through the wretches and stalls were other visitors to the archeomarket. Klute could see groups of all but naked eldar, jangling with blades and decorated in revealing scraps of spiked, chitinous armour. Off-world mutants, twisted mercenaries and warp-blessed human cultists went about their business, bawling and bartering with the vendors.

Without passion we'd be truly dead.

Well, C.S.Goto introduced a fat, drooling, child molesting, Chaos worshipping Eldar farseer leading a craftworld's farseer council. Actually half of Goto's Eldar and Dark Eldar are worshipping Chaos. Doesn't mean GW is fine with that interpretation

Yeah didn't he also magically turn a Razorback into a Landraider for a few pages ?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Well there is also a group of eldar worshiping slaanesh in the soul drinker novels trying to turn a imperial world into a daemon world, I even recall in some novels involving chaos space marine warbands they have some xeno's in them. I recall this was the case with honsou warband that he won it did not say which xeno's were in it but my memory if fuzzy with that book.

There is also the second edition(I think its second) codex where it says on crone worlds

"Even so, these planets are not devoid of life, but are home to countless mortal followers and champions of the Chaos Powers as well as immortal daemons and their masters. Among the mortal inhabitants can still be found Eldar, some preserved since the time of the Fall, who champion the cause of Chaos on the Daemon Worlds and throughout the galaxy."

I think there are also some parts that say eldar chaos champions are well scary.

In my opinion its still valid but hey everyone has a different interpretation for lore, but since its from a codex I will take it even if its old. I mean when people ask for crone eldar/chaos eldar(while searching google) people give extracts and fluff I have not seen anyone have problems with them. Normally its chaos sisters that everyone starts cringing and raising eyebrows.
