Subject: Converting the Open Fire Firefly to US Tank

So I'm a cheap son of a gun and I'm looking at converting some of my left over open fire Shermans to their American counterparts... From what I can tell, the standard British Sherman from Open Fire! seems to have an equivalent in the M4 or the M4A1. My question is there a similar tank in the US armies that look similarly to a Firefly? Edit: Herp Derp, google has helped me. At least a site I found said that it is similar to the M4A4... If anyone would like to correct me, or lead me to where I can find better information that would also be appreciated, but it seems I jumped the gun a bit on this thread, sorry FoW! Edit the second: It seems I cannot use my extra fireflies in my American list... The Shermans will be okay. Thanks guys sorry to bug you!

As far as I know there's nothing even remotely close. That gun is much larger than the 76mm upgunned shermans would have received.
The only thing I can think of would be to cut the barrel down to make it look like a 105, but then you'd still have a really funky looking turret.

If you cut the counterweight off it would look like a regular 75mm turret (gun aside). You could make the gun from brass rod. They're all Sherman Vs (M4A4s in US terminology)
Alternatively (I think this would work) buy a box of PSC Shermans to make 76mm Shermans and use the spare 75mm turrets to re-turret the Firefly's. Then all you'd have to do is make some hull Machine-guns from wire and putty.

You can use them fine against most opponents. Cut the barrel down to be the regularly 75mm sherman barrel length, remove the radio box from the back of the turret and put a hull MG in place and you are good to go if you just paint it up like all the other M4A1s you've got running for table top appearance. The primary difference after the barrel, turret box and MG in the hull are dealt with would be the suspension and most people are not going to complain that your sherman has the wrong suspension. Those who do are easy enough to step away from to find another opponent. In 15mm scale you will be more than close enough that it shouldn't be a problem.
