hello! im new to warhammer 40k and I know this question is asked a lot but I would like to add a few things to my question and that is what is a good starting army BESIDES! space marines I now that space marines are good for beginners but I don't want to be space marines so comment on what you think is a good starter army besides! space and please say why

well I see that looks seem to matter the most but does one army have better units or vehicles or do they all kind of have same units and vehicles but just look different?

Would you prefer to use;

Vehicles or Infantry?
Guns or Swords?
Flyers or Wheels?

They're all different. In a lot of ways. But it's in so many ways that we can't really explain it. We could give you suggestions. Like if you think tanks are awesome you might want to go with Imperial Guard.
Maybe you think the guys in huge power armour are awesome, then go with Space Marines, or you think they're awesome but not evil enough, then go with Chaos Space Marines

Maybe you really like building stuff and modifying models to put your own mark on them. Then go Orks.

Or maybe you're just manly enough to play an army full of women. Then you should go Adeotas Sororitas. But you're not. you have to be pretty elitist to choose the Sisters. We're better than you.

chaos daemons 100%! the army is amazingly fun!

Well, I'd start with a MEQ army since those armies are generally more forgiving. I'd stay away from Xenos armies like Eldar, DE, Orks, and Nids since they require some finesse to play them successfully.
