Subject: Need help with 3,000 Points of HE's, First Attempt

Hey mates, after gathering some knowledge and looking at various lists for ideas, I finally came up with a 3,000 point list I will be testing out this weekend and now I'm just looking for some tactical advice. Currently, this is what I came up with, as I will be playing Ogres, DE's and Chaos or Empire at the very least so tell me what you guys think. .Anyways, here is my 1st attempt so tell me what you guys think, as I still need help completing it for this weekend for these matches, especially since the Ogre player wants a rematch (long story short, horde of 50x Spearmen + Lore of Shadows = Dead Bull Horde ).
* Alarielle:
-w/ Lvl. 4, High/Life/Light Magic (Leaning towards Life, but Light would be good against DE's and Chaos).
* BSB:
-w/ HW, hvy. armor, Enchanted shield, Lion Cloak, Ring of Fury
* Lvl. 2 Mage:
-w/Dispel Scroll, Golden Crown, Iron Curse Icon
* (50x) Seaguard: (w/ Lvl. 2)
-w/Full Command, Shields
*(12x) Archers:
-w/Musician
*(26x) Swordmasters: (w/Alarielle, BSB, 7x4 formation)
-w/Full Command, Banner of the World Dragon
*(21x) White Lions:
-w/Full Command
*(21x) White Lions:
-w/Full Command
*Bolt Thrower
*Bolt Thrower
* Great Eagle
*Great Eagle
Total: 2,667
Now at the moment, this is what I am sitting at and I still have 333 points left to spend. Now, I am leaning towards possibly adding another unit of 21x Swordmasters for more killing power, or debating if I want to go all out and run 2x more Bolt Throwers or possible some Sisters. For the Lvl. 2 Wizard, he will have High, Beasts, or maybe even Shadow Magic while Alarielle will chose between Life, High or Light Magic depending on my opponent and what my Level 2 takes.Reason for the BSB w/the Ring of Fury is to allow me to spread the damage dealing around so my Level 2 can focus on supporting the Seaguard unit, and since the BSB is in Alarielles unit, he has a good chance getting a 2+ ward if they both take High Magic. Appreciate the help mates.

I would consider adding Sisters (especially useful against DE hydras) and a kitted out prince or noble to stick with your Lions and give them a bit more punch and take away the Ogre and WOC characters' ability to distribute all of their attacks across the unit.
Otherwise, you can never go wrong by adding a Frosty. Then consider adding a magic banner to your white lions. +1 CR or +1 Movement is never a bad thing.

Whew, that's a lot of models! 3000 points buys you a lot, so I would consider adding some more Heroes or even another Lord--maybe on a Frostheart as suggested, or perhaps a Dragon Mage? Otherwise, how about a Fighty bodyguard to go in Alarielle's unit? You have plenty of magic already, actually.
How about some cavalry to flank--you have 5 large infantry units and maybe could use some Silver Helms?

5000 pts High Elves 4000 pts, Warriors of Chaos 4000 pts, Dwarfs 3000 pts, Wood Elves and Greenskins too

Why heavy armour over dragon armour? It's about 30 points if you buy heavy armour and all the peripherals that dragon armour gets you.

You are aware that Alarielle gets to mix and match spells, right?
Other than that, I'd just try and fit in a handmaiden with the reaver bow and Potion of strength. But that's just me.
Also drop the high sister, she really doesn't do much.

I'm aware that Alarielle can mix and match her spell, considering going 3x with High Magic and 1x with either Life or Light depending on the opponent I will be facing. The reason for the High Sister in the Sisters of Averlorn unit is to be able to accept challenges from any unit that manages to get into CC with them so that way I can keep my level 2 around for a bit longer just in case, however I have considered trying to find the points to equip her with the Reaver Bow to give the unit some extra punch.

You need to write the way Alarielle is generating her spells at list level,
As for the reaver bow on the high sister, not worth it. Better to go for the handmaiden with it and the potion of strength, for the BS7 hero.

I really like the shooty-ness of the list, and you have a very solid magic phase indeed. Your white lions and mega-Horde of spearmen are going to be durable in combat, and I really like the massed Swordmasters as they are great value for their cost. I've never used eagles, but I have seen Lore of Life used on them with Flesh to Stone which made them an absolutely ridiculously effective tarpit for almost no cost! Personally, I think Life with HEs works really well--especially with the Throne of Vines buffs in place. You should have enough magic to get it done, or force the enemy's hand in order to try to stop you.
I'd be very interested to hear back from you about how the Sisters and Alarielle went--I don't have the models, and in fact have never even seen them used yet. So, let us know how it goes!

I played a total of 3x games last weekend, all of them Victories however I only ran the Sisters in the first two.They sisters where hit and miss for me in my opinion, they can be good but nothing amazing as I took on a Shooty DE list and a balanced Ogre List with the Bull Horde and Monster-Cavalry. Sure they have S4, Magical-flaming arrows, however they die really easily, and with the 24 inch range, my opponents Reaver Crossbows shot them up pretty good and against the Ogres they didn't do much with them as they are all T4, so it was a bit disappointing to say the least as they failed to deliver. The uber-protected Swordmasters however, dominated both opponents, as the Swordmasters moped the floor against my opponents horde of 30x Executioners and mowed down the Bull Horde like it was nothing, and the White Lions of course did what they did best an just walked through my opponents cavalry units. Spearmen did good at holding there own, as the Ogre player avoided them with his Bull Horde as he didn't want to get bogged down, but they did a great job against his Iron Guts, and against the DE's. the took on his horde of Spearmen, which ended in a slugfest of 50x man hordes, with me coming out on top barely thanks to me casting Flesh to Stone on them and using drain magic to remove all the buffs on his Spearmen . Archers and Bolt Throwers did there job at shooting down any chaff units and harassing his Cav. units, and the eagles where great distractions and did a good job at delaying any charges but I have to work on that still.
The 3rd game was against Chaos, and for this one I dropped the Sisters and tried out a Noble with Shadow Armor and the Reaver Bow in a unit of 9x Shadow Warriors, as I am a huge fan of the fluff of Shadow Warriors and they can be a lot nastier then people think. Now granted, this is against Chaos so I though they wouldn't be too much of a threat to him, however they really surprised me, as not only did they good job at harassing his Knights (killed 4x of them in one turn of shooting), he actually took the time to try and kill them as he was getting ticked off that I kept focusing on his nasty units such as his chosen and knights, which gave me time to bombarded him with Magic and shooting from my archers and Bolt Throwers. Granted its probably not as effective as the Sisters in the long run, the still did better in my experience then the Sisters did, and if not running Shadow Warriors in the future or Sisters,that means I have around 250 points to work with.
