hey everyone-- I am moving my efforts to create my first 40K army over here.

I will be creating a White Scars successor chapter called the Storm Brothers. I will be using White scars rules 100%. The only deviation will be slight changes in style (not rules) and modeling/fluff. The Storm Brothers have the following characteristics (I will fill out the fluff as I get to know the 40K universe better):

Xenomorph killers: The Storm Brothers are fanatical at rooting out and destroying alien incursions, particularly Orks and Tyranids
Fanatic: Storm Brothers are a deeply devoted Chapter, and never go to battle without a Chaplain
Lightning: Their Chapter motto is, "We are the Lightning Strike". Like their progenitor White Scars, they hit fast and hard-- however, they also excel at striking at a distance, and will have more sniper rifles, missile launchers and long-range weapons than a typical White Scars detachment will (still deciding on Devastator Squads). Sergeants and HQ will almost always be rewarded with power weapons and/or Lightning Claws. Veterans/Sgts. on bike will have power lances.

I have not bought any models yet, but I was lucky enough to find this older terminator in my bits box-- here is my first painted model for the Storm Brothers! Overall, I am happy with how the scheme came out, but boy, I am definitely out of practice! Painting skill should come back as I move forward-- but the eyes are getting older, too. All comments/criticism welcome!

That practice model is looking rather snazzy!
I'd love to see what becomes of this.

So, the attack bike I pieced together is apparently pretty old. I magnetized the two weapons it came with (storm bolter and multi-melt a, I believe). I also magnetized the base of the side-car so can use the bike without it if I choose.

What do you guys think of a tail n the bike? Cool or silly? I like it because it not only ties in with the WS history, but it gives a sense of movement to the bike. I would figure out a way to attach them so they are not just glued there...

Really liking the look of that termie.

...and wow, that must be an old attack bike! It's a heavy bolter, not a storm bolter, BTW

Thanks, Zambro-- I will make a note of that-- that tells you how long I have been holding on to bits and pieces here and there, hoping to finally have the time to dive into 40K.

Now I have finally decided to do it and just sideline/sell every other project.

The newest edition of the rules are really great-- this is a good time to be a 40K Noob!

Thanks, the close ups reveal all the flaws and brush strokes, but I am happy with the overall result.

Cleanly painting the line between the purple and the gray on the fenders was a challenge-- I kept over-correcting each time I tried to clean it up: over the line with purple, then over the line with the gray, then over the line with the purple again... lol, crazy making!

I am considering gluing a very thin strip of plasticard at the transition line-- I will see which one is a bigger pain in the booty. Sounds silly, but would give me a very clean line to highlight.

Any suggestions on weathering/damaging? I am brand new to 40K-- when I first got into WHFB, every SM model I saw in White Dwarf was clean and bright and looked like it just rolled off the assembly line.

I'm not crazy about that bike's horse tail, but other than that, there is some seriously awesome stuff happening here. Excited to see this project come together.

Well, that is certainly a new colour scheme! I think it might be a bit busy with all the colours like that but once your eyes adjust I really must commend you on doing it so well, takes rather large groin sacs to attempt to paint a marine chapter with a consistant multiple colours! especially when two of them are the hated Yellow & White! *shudders*

Haha, loving the color scheme! The lightning bolts on the bike are also a tiny detail that really reinforces the theme - great idea.

Interested to see what you have planned for basing. Red would be too warm, grey boring, white snow would blend in... I think you should go for a vibrant green jungle.

Then again, that's what I always recommend...

I will be using some sculpted bases from MicroArts- the "ruins" series... I am thinking brown/gray, with tufts of yellowing grass.

Loving the paint scheme! How do paint the white (it looks grey/brownish on the biker)?

It actually *is* gray, but the pictures wash it out somewhat, so I understand why everyone thinks it is white. I originally was going to go with a darker gray, but did not like it as much.

I start with gray primer, then airbrush Ulthuan Gray, shade with watered down Earthshade (Nuln oil for the plate lines, or whatever you call them on the legs. I then repaint the Ulthuan, then 50/50 with white, then finish with white edging.

Thanks for commenting!

Hey everyone!

I am known for being slightly OCD about detailing and not being able to call a unit "done". I have taken my medication, and I am ready to call my first unit completed! Final pictures, Storm Brothers, II Brotherhood, IV Strike Team, lead by Fang Brother, Fang Lung Sai

Thank you EVERYONE for the encouragement!

Now on to building Rhinos and trying to kit bash a Chaplain on bike...
