So I'm trying to get into 40k for the second time (first time I didn't have the funds) and I was looking for models cheaper that GW prices. I found this website, Link removed. , someone please tell me this is legit. I swear it's not, but if anyone has experience with it I'd appreciate the input.

What we have here is a recaster!

It doesn't mean they'll steal your money, but they're not selling legitimate product.

What exactly is a recast? I mean what makes it different from a regular model?

They take a normal model, make a mold and cast a thousand or so copies out of resin.

I think you've read mixed reviews because in all likelihood the quality varies depending on the level of equipment used and how professional the seller is, it could vary between a hut in the middle of rural China and a fully trained operative who does this in his spare time to earn extra cash.

Honestly though, I think concerns over quality or toxicity are secondary to the moral arguments, whether you feel happy buying an illegally produced product or not.

Too true, Grot 6 and I had a minor disagreement 6 weeks back, discussed the issue in two or three relatively heated but ultimately tame posts, and then virtually shook hands after finding common ground. Three days later, we both got month long bans.

Once you have made a name for yourself, there is precious little moderation from the moderators, its iron-shod boot-heels and totalitarian discipline if you aren't in the boys club, so If you are a new guy I heartily suggest you don't even insult people in jest, or you will wind up being banned for 8 months of the year.
