If Throgg becomes a daemon prince, will the Daemon prince retain any of his special rules? Regen, vomit, etc.

Some might say no based on the reading that Throggs abilities are not equipment, mutations or powers, magic items or any other rewards from the table. etc.
Whilst other characters, Valkia, Sigvald for example gain specific rewards.
But The type does suggest that becoming a daemon prince allows the model to basically trade it's stat bar for a daemon princes, plus the daemon prince extra abilities.
All that being said, I would be inclined to say he does keep them. His stats to a daemon prince are not gaining much and Daemonhood is a very rare reward.
I would definitely play it as a YES he keeps his regen etc...

No, just the crown, as it is a magic item. It says the model retains "chaos mutations and powers" which is an entire heading in the book. Everything under that qualifies and none of throgg's special rules are there.

As above. The rules are quite clear on what you get to keep; anything not on the list is gone.

I think he probably loses them, but I would suggest an alternative:
When Throgg becomes a DP, does he stop being Throgg? I would say no, he is the same being but transcendent. Therefore rules which say "Throgg has" go with the being rather than the model.
I don't think the same would aplly to rules which are general like vomit.

None of those are rules. He goes from being a MI to a Monster. Moreover, per the rules, the original model is "removed as a casualty." He's dead. He is now a DP. You're going beyond even RAI to RAP, rules as poetry. Is an elf no longer an elf without a big pointy hat???

The rules ae actually a bit unclear iirc. My suggestion is that Throgg remains Throgg. If he does not, the army would suddenly become illegal due to lack of core.i could see the Throgg USRs persisting if they use hus name in the descrition of the rule.

There is no rule after the start that you have to have % core or special or rare. Units are killed all the time and the containing army doesn't suddenly become invalid. I think you're writing without seeing the book. He's still the general (if he was the general), per the rule, and he's still got his winter tooth, which allows him to do the LD thing with Trolls. Even if he didn't, nothing would break. You'd just have a crapload of non-core trolls which are no different than special trolls once the game has started.

It's clear they wanted to make it that you don't waste points you spent and thus potentially get a downgrade going to your DP. You buy magic items and mutations, but special rules are generally free. Also, it just gets way too weird. Throgg is Throgg is a little easier, but a champion Ogre who gets turned into a DP would still have Ogre Charge? That doesn't make any sense.

I agree. It is pretty clear and there is no text about special abilities sticking around. This could go as far as any other champion model army wide.
I'd still play it as keeping the abilities...why?? Rule of cool, just makes a bit more sense for me.

It wouldnt make sense that he is suddenly the only demon prince with regen in the whole game. The rule is quite clear you keep equipment, magic items, mutations and powers, and any rewards from the eye of the gods table. You do not keep any normal rules you happen to have had already. Not to mention you would suddenly be in a situation of being the only deamon prince able to still roll on they eye of the gods table if you kept Throgg's special rules.

Fair enough, points well made.
