Hey ho!
Very long time lurker here who finally has gathered enough courage (and finally have something worth sharing, hopefully) to start my own
WIP blog!
Making a long story short, since I bought my very first miniatures back in 2004, a space marine combat squad, I've lived and breathed Space Marines and
IoM in general, having started but never finished more space marine armies than I can recall, I now feel that I for once should get something memorable going and completed.
I knew wanted to create a force of one of the first founding chapters but that was about it, so I sat down for quite some time to see what my options were. I wanted to use the regular marine codex, so that left out the Space Wolves, the Blood Angels and the Dark Angels, I also knew that I did not want to go with something as popular as the Ultramarines, for example.
In the past I had always gone for very... flamboyant color schemes, all the brightest of colors you could imagine, so I decided to go the opposite way this time which basically left me with either the Iron Hands or the Raven Guard.
I was extremely tempted to go with the Iron Hands due to their affinity for all things mechanical, the conversion possibilities regarding bionics and techmarine-inspired captains and the like almost made me go with them...
But then I got my hands on Deliverance Lost, and the deal was settled, I would depict the Raven Guard in all their sneaky-stealth glory!
Oh and I've always liked assault marines, so there's that too.
After spending some time practicing painting black armor, as well as the white that goes with it, I'll hereby unveil my very first completed test model:
Do note that he hasn't had his matte coat applied yet, so there is a bit of a glare on certain areas!
At first this model was actually destined to lead the force as 5th company's Shadow Captain Corvane Valar, but I have since ordered some more goodies from forgeworld which should arrive any day now. This will allow me to add a bit more detailed bling as befits a captain of the adeptus astartes. ^_^
I'll get around to setting up a proper lightbox soon as well.
Well that about rounds my very first (blog) post up, any constructive criticism is always very welcome!
