Im in but woe shipping in U.S. from Brigade games is crazy. It was cheaper last Nickstarter, $7.00 and I was at a higher level. I am at level 2 and shipping is $10.00. I really hate it when companies try to get extra revenue in shipping charges.

I'd like to pick a Warlord pledge to build a KoW army but the 20% postage cost makes it more expensive than online discounters with free postage so I guess I'll have to wait for retail - I have no real interest in Frostgrave itself or any added extras, pity as I'd have liked to have help fund the plastic set through the Nickstarter.

Check some of the retailers that are also participating, they all have different shipping policies.

Did you request rush shipping or something? I pre-ordered a Level 4 through Brigade and my shipping is only $8.

Nope, I ordered Level 2 as well and shipping was $10, or $11 for USPS priority.

No rush shipping just regular shipping $10. I emailed and questioned it and they said that was the cost and that it should be $12. It appears the more you order the cheaper the S&H. Sorry but it does not cost $10 to ship a book and Box of Barbarians $10 in the U.S..

Are you on the West coast?

Go to USPS website, and try out their shipping calculator.

Pretty much anything over 13oz will ship for over $8. Ship a book and a box, and I bet its over 1lb.
Then add in the time spent to pack it, the cost of the box and packaging materials, you are easily up to your $10.
Then account for it being shipped across the ocean.

You can make the complaint that shipping costs are too high, that's your opinion.
But to say that it doesn't cost that much is wrong.

Bam, said the lady!

$10 is basically break even with their costs and certainly not price gouging. At 13 ounces or over you have to ship priority mail which starts at $7.30 and goes up based by weight and distance. Books aren't going top fit into the small priority flat rates, so that means they have to use your own box which on average costs 0.60-0.80 cents (even when bought in bulk) another 0.50 for the standard USPS sized 1/2 page packaging label, then there's packing foam or bubble wrap to make sure your stuff doesn't get banged up, tape to keep things closed up, time for somebody to pack it all, generate and print labels, and possibly take a trip to deliver it to the post office.

Adjusted for weight they likely have an actual postage cost of around $12 and then they have about $2 in material cost, so it is very likely that they are taking a slight loss to ship your package even without the time consideration. I've sold stuff full time on ebay for over 15 years and it's very apparent that the majority of people buying things online don't have the first clue on what it actually costs to ship things. (or how long it takes) The first Nickstarter probably was cheaper and they raised prices after they saw how much money they were losing because even with the increased price they are still charging less than their actual cost. It may not matter on an occasional order or two but when you are shipping dozens or even hundreds of packages a $2-3 loss on each one adds up rather quickly

Sorry, but some people are still paying less shipping at level 4 than I am at level 2. Okay the cost of packing materials and box is definitely more for level 4 than level 2. The distance of travel policy...okay I will accept that.

If they wanted to break even it would be a flat rate!

Anyway, enough on shipping. I do have the opportunity and choice not to pledge. Amazon does have cheaper shipping and I could take that route.

Larger volume orders allow them a bit more wiggle room on what discounts they can offer. (both in regard to shipping and retail price) You can usually leverage better discounts with retailers when you make larger orders.

It's much easier to eat the shipping cost on a $200+ item as opposed to a small $20 item, where reducing your shipping cost might negate the entire profit on the smaller order.

I just ordered the Level 4 through The Dice Bag Lady, and only had to pay GBP3.95 for shipping to Japan. That might be an option if you think your postage is too high.

Now showing various models from the previously adandoned projects!

@JoshinJapan, thanks but unfortunately the cash is taken out upon pledging.

@Stanman, yes I do understand that shipping is often cheaper when you order more. it is not cheaper than a normal order. for example my order S&H is $10. another pledge double the weight S&H would be $15 instead of $20 to provide incentive.

again, we are off topic. I appreciate the info.

I think the barbarians look great. I wonder if there will be mounted rules or a miniature based on the cover art. I hope so as that would be a fantastic addition.

Ack, I haven't even finished the Thaw of the Lich Lord campaign yet! :(

Are there any longer campaign books immediately planned, or will it be rules expansion books like Into the Breeding Pits for the foreseeable future? I'm fine with either (need a break after the current campaign anyway).

You don't have to play them all at once, you know? They aren't going to go up in flames after 6 weeks on the shelf.

Theres def more stuff coming. Can't remember what, but the author has a blog where he mentions upcoming plans a lot.

I went back into the Brigade web store and put a Level 2 package in my cart and checked the cost for shipping. I still get $8 as the cheapest option (same as I paid for my Level 4 shipping). If you are paying $10 I can only assume you are in a different postal zone than I am and are paying more based on the distance.

As far as buying though Amazon, shipping may be cheaper that way but you do lose out on the Nickstarter freebies (currently a free werewolf and the three treasure tokens but there is likely to be more by the end).

Check out Brigade Games, they handle the Frostgrave Nickstarter for the USA.

Not sure, but I found it was cheaper to go through the Dice Bag Lady in the UK than Brigade in the US.

Nickstarter participants. Apologies for the rubbish way we've managed the Spend Goal total this week. We'll update it Monday. Right now we haven't hit the 2nd Spend Goal that releases the Barbarian Wizard Apprentice, lets see where we are Monday morning!

There will be a Frostgrave Folio released in March 2017. Quoted from Amazon US. "The Frostgrave Folio is the complete collection of all previously released Frostgrave mini-ebook supplements in one printed volume. This includes Hunt for the Golem, a three-scenario campaign in which the warbands hunt down a rogue golem; Sellsword, which introduces rules for experience-gaining captains to help lead warbands; Dark Alchemy, which expands the rules for potions and potion brewing, and Arcane Locations which gives additional options for bases and base upgrades. The book also includes a completely new mini-supplement, The Ravages of Time."

Don't know about a longer campaign book, however.

As I recall, Arcane Locations also isn't out yet in any form, so I think that for many of us (I might be wrong here) it might as well be new content too.

I will say I only own Sellsword of the "mini expansions", but its AWESOME and adds such a cool element to the game. If it is indicative of the others, then the Folio will be one of the best books yet.

In fact, i'd say i've never been disappointed with a Frostgrave release. Across all books and such, thus far, there is just such an amazing volume of cool, and pretty modular content you can include, or omit, as you see fit.

Only Breeding Pits, thus far, felt a little weak to me, and its because my group doesn't have great dungeon-terrain for pure interior set-ups. As such we have to muck around with its content a bit to get it on the table, and it loses some of its promise.

I think the Arcane Locations pdf came out last week. There are people on the Lead Adventure Forum talking about building the terrain required for one of the scenarios.

At this pace, I'm more interested in something like a hardcover omnibus that is basically all the rules-related publications.. Don't get me wrong, the Folio is welcome.. but having all the rules in one printed and revised place for clarity and ease of access would make things so much simpler. This could really easily become as bad ass D&D with all the splat books and compendiums etc.. which is the opposite of why this game was originally appealing to me.
