I'll Be Back
|
Hi been playing wargaming for over ten years and was a veteran off wayland (started 5years ago) but after a bad experience (took one month to despatch one item grrr) been looking round for the best wargaming deals online. On the wargaming trading group on facebook I saw this company: http://www.somertonhobbies.com
Has anyone else tried this website, and is the 10% off first purchase worth it or the '7 day deals'?

For only £2 on entry, you gain 10% off all Warhammer models bought that day (second hand Warhammer not included).
Interested?

Dude, if you want to promote your shop, I'm pretty sure there aren't any forum rules against it, but as the above post from your account shows you referring to Somerton Hobbies as "us" it is pretty obvious you're heavily involved, if not the owner/manager.
Sockpuppetry isn't cool, clumsy sockpuppetry is worse.
Just be open and honest, I for one, and I'm sure many others, would react a lot more positively to that than this.

Does it count as sock puppetry if you don't even make a different account?
Surely not? Its just like a bad case of forgetfulness or schizophrenia!

There is nothing wrong with advertising your store and getting the name out there.
Sockpuppetry or astroturfing like this is deceptive and dishonest. It immediately paints a negative image of you and the store.
Bad-mouthing a competitor while seeming like a neutral party is even worse.
From now on, this "Somerton Hobbies" place is, in my mind, pretty much categorized next to Battlefoam as scummy dishonest sockpuppetry and astroturfing.

What is it about wargaming that makes people/spambots think 'I bet they'd all like new kitchens'?

However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.

You know, there's just something so pathetically British about this 'scam', in comparison to those jazzy US scams with their aliases, police involvement, threats etc. That whole Mandelbaum thing could be an episode of one of those sunglasses-toting police procedural shows, whilst this could only be televised as an episode of Only Fools and Horses.
If the OP isn't in fact the store owner and just a loyal customer trying to drum up business, I hope he'll be paying extra for all his purchases to make up for all the people now swerving the store, like I will be.

I'm sure it's a lovely store, if only due to its geographical locations.
Perhaps some kind soul will write about it in the store finder.
