If you want to earn XP, then play the game with no restrictions.
The stupidity of "No IGLAs or AA launchers" on jet/helo dominated maps is exactly why they require you to have the "CUSTOM" server rules ticked if you want to actually force people to play your way.

And they'd do that except they're playing a game where weapons and attachments and perks are unlocked via player progression which they can't do in a custom server (then you have prestiging and what not so that progression never really ends). And no. They require that custom server rule because people complained about constantly running into servers with custom rules which is also the games fault because as you point out, these days the server blurp doesn't pop up until you're joining.
Don't blame the player blame the game for forcing them to do something.

The server browser actually shows the server "blurb"(read: the description of the server) as well, but there is another part in the form of the "in-game server banner" which is only at a readable size when you are actually joining the game.
I have no sympathy for people who want to play with their rules but refuse to actually set the game to Custom. You want to play something stupid like "Knives Only"? There's a setting for that. If your server does not get people--tough luck.
Don't blame the player blame the game for forcing them to do something.
Okay, so basically you want to play the game the way YOU want to but without having to play the game with the proper game balance.

Holy gak, that made me laugh soooooo hard! EA released a play-through of the first mission a while back, and I remember watching it thinking "Why the Hell is this song playing??" before...whoever it was shouted about turning off the radio Edit - Kinda reminded me of some of the little jokes from the Bad Company series...I wish they'd made another sequel to those! it's more demanding. I have a 470 GTX and a Q6600 (which is ancient but works) and I was able to run BF3 maxed in 1920x1200. BF4 though... had to significantly reduce my graphical settings, I think everything is at medium. That being said it is also because I didn't really play BF3 in multi, whereas I am playing BF4 much more in multi. I suspect there will be significantly optimized drivers in the future but for expect to adjust the sliders.
For the SP campaign, how do you engage with the visor? I got stuck about 15 minutes in - there is a part where a Huey shows up to offer support, you equip a visor by holding down Q and then... something.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, the line "Man, I don't want to die to this song" seriously cracked me up.

I enjoy it now that I've finally found some Hardcore servers to play on. Note: actual Hardcore servers are apparently bugged right now, so Hardcore rulesets can only be found under Custom games. I've yet to find any two that use the same ruleset, but as long as the damage is at Hardcore levels, it's good enough for me. And you still get XP and rank ups on Custom servers, so it's all good.
Changes I like:
The 25mm cannon unlock on the AH-6 and Russian/Chinese equivalents. Those things are sick.
30mm cannon buffs for the Thunderbolt/Frogfoot.
Attack boats.
Class loadout changes, especially Recon.
Stinger/Igla range reductions.
Changes I don't like:
Flight model. It was always ridiculously unrealistic. Now it's just downright cartoonish for both jets and helos.
Carbine nerfs.
DMR nerfs.
Levolution. It's not that special after the first time, and it has a tendency to crash servers.
Speaking of crashes. the game crashes frequently. Everybody's screaming about it on the official forums, so hopefully it'll get cleared up soon.

I'm really enjoying the game so far. I played my first match of Rush and frigging LOVED it. I'm currently working on the revolver you get from the campaign. And carbines, love the carbine.

I enjoyed the demo, but have learned that if you want to enjoy a Battlefield game you get it for PC, because consoles won't allow you to communicate with anyone outside your squad and hardcaps you at match sizes far below what the map was intended for. Playing the BF4 demo on 360 felt like a ghost town on conquest. Without a vehicle, you almost never saw anyone, unless you went to the middle and fought in the same rubble/top of the building over and over again (where there was absolutely no cover and the building lasted all of 30 seconds in most matches)

Im playing on the 360 and Im enjoying it. The matches are well populated and its a far cry from the BETA we all played a few weeks ago. I havnt once did a random game where there wasnt enough people playing, infact some maps have felt like they crammed TOO many people on them.
Though I did have one R-tard the other day bitching over the mic every....single....time he was killed. Yelling at the other team like they could fracking hear him. That was pretty annoying so I wrote him and asked him to stop complaining or to give some direction to his team rather then call everyone a bunch of noobs (even though a few matches he was well below the 50% mark) But then he insulted me over the mic like that was just the cool thing to do

I played on PS3 for a couple hours over the weekend. The campaign is cool, along with the online...but I'm going to wait until I get a PS4 or PC. It all looks/plays nice, but you can tell it's been scaled back for PS3, and I have a hard time paying $60 for that. Also, I really don't like the vehicle controls...I liked them a lot more in Bad Company 2 and BF3.

BTW, this is a bug. If you have this happen change your zoom toggle to hold, go though this part, and then change it back.
The game in general is surprisingly buggy, in my experience.

Ive been rocking on the game, only had a few system crashes while playing, so not too bad.
Is it just me, or is the RPG WAY stronger than it was in the BETA? I swear I had to tag a tank 4ish times then, but earlier I popped one with 2 shots and another 2 tanks with 3 quick shots.
Carbines are the bomb.
And I finished 2 matches in a row as the top ranked player. Though to pop my ego bubble a bit, in one the team so soooo bad I had only killed 6 people and died like 8 times

Does the RPG still have the 'guided' feature?
TL;DR version: When you have a 'guided' weapon and Recon reliably lazing targets for you then you'll kill things much much faster. With the beta that was taken into consideration.

I havnt bought a mic yet so Ive just been playing without planning with people, and no joke, Ive YET to be in a team where the recons fracking light anything up. I did it once before learning how to fly, and suddenly I hear a couple engineers from my team shout "HOLY gak A LASER!" and rockets ensued
But I think I may have been lucky on the tanks mentioned because after posting, I shot at a tank and it took the usual 4 shots to do it in. So Im thinking the tanks before where already hurtin

Yeah I remember trying recon out in the beta and the moment I would mark something you'd see like 5 rockets all over the map fire at it.

KC, have you ever checked out the Battlelog for the BF games? It basically keeps track of all your stats, and info from your recent matches. I'm sure you'd get a kick out of it.
And I think it feels more like BF3 than BFBC2.

Yea it certainly feels more like BF3 to me as well.
And yea Ive checked out my stats on battlelog and its admittedly not something to brag about. Though I do have to say in my defense, a lot of the bad matches where I was killed a billion times per 1 single kill on my end was due to either getting used to a new weapon/learning a new weapon or....pistols. Man I just suck with a stock pistol

Freezing often on Dawnbreaker? Avoid that map!
It's really common. There is discussion currently that they might remove it from the playlists.
The other issue is that you might freeze while loading into a game. Right now the workaround is as soon as the counter from the previous round is getting down to 5 seconds to press the 'Xbox' guide button in the middle of your controller. It generally prevents that from happening--unless it's Dawnbreaker.
Also it has been suggested that rather than start at the map "Siege of Shanghai", you try to start with "Rogue Transmission". By doing that you get to play through the entire playlist--except for Dawnbreaker--by staying in.
The current map playlist is this:
Siege of Shanghai
Lacang Dam
Zavod 311
Hainan Resort
Flood Zone
Operation Dawnbreaker
Rogue Transmission
Paracel Storm
Golmud Railway
Operation Locker

No I would say it feel allot more like BF3.
Though I would actually like to se a return to BF:BC2, which IMHO is the peak of the BF franchise sofar. That's not to say 3 or 4 are bad games. Far from it.

Having played 1942, BF2, BFBC2, and BF3, I have to say that BF2 was my favorite.
Maybe it's cause I spent the most time on it, but it felt like 2 really captured the "spirt" of the franchise better than 3. It more or less set the series apart from other FPSs in my mind.
I heard BF4 brought back commander mode. Hopefully it brings that game closer to BF2.
