Hey guys, here to announce Onslaught for 2014, so I've got a lot of details for you.

The overall setup/awards for Fantasy and 40k will be the same, so I will lay out specific restrictions/rules for each event, after the common section.

Both events have a 50 player cap currently, (though if there is a lot of demand we can expand that number).

Check out Warmachine/Hordes events/schedule (will add link when it is posted)

Happily, this year the event is the weekend AFTER the superbowl. So no conflict there.

Schedule 40K:
Saturday Feb, 8th: 8:30-9 registration.
9-9:30, Table assignments, deployment
9:30-12:00, RND 1.
12:00-1:00 Lunch, table assignments, deployment.
1:00 - 3:30pm, RND 2
3:30-4:00, Break, table assignments
4:00-7:00, deployment, RND 3

Sun Feb, 9th: 9:15-9:45 check-in/ table assignments/deployment.
9:45-12:15 RND 4.
12:15-1:15, Lunch, table assignments, deployment.
1:15 - 4pm RND 5.
4-4:30 clean up
4:45-5:00 Awards.

Schedule Fantasy:
Saturday Feb, 8th: 8-8:30 registration.
8:30-9:00, table assignments/deployment.
9:00-11:30, RND 1.
11:30-12:30 Lunch, table assignments, deployment.
12:30 - 3:00, RND 2
3:00-3:30, Break, table assignments
3:30-6:30, deployment, RND 3

Sun Feb, 9th: 9:00-9:30 check-in/ table assignments/deployment.
9:30-12:00 RND 4.
12:00-1:00, Lunch, table assignments.
1:00 - 4:00 RND 5.
4:00-4:30 clean up
5:00 Awards.

MAX of 100 Battle Points throughout the tournament (20 each round), both game systems.

Sportsmanship(40k + Fantasy):
Everyone starts out with 20/30 possible points for sportsmanship. At the end of every game, you will score your opponent on a pass/fail system.
Ask yourself the following:

"Did my opponent's attitude and/or behavior make the game an UNpleasant experience, overall?"
Note to the player: Please be sure that your answer is based on your opponent's behavior as a person, not on their army, and certainly not on who won or lost. Thank you!

IF you would answer the above question with a "YES" Then your opponent failed. NOTE: Due to a little bit of confusion last year, there will be a simple PASS or FAIL on the sheet to circle.
Each failure will be handles as follows:
1 failure = -5 points
2 failures = -10 points
3 failures = -20 points
4 failures = DQ and not allowed to return.

Note: All "Bad game" votes will need to be explained to the TO. Just to ensure that it was legitimately earned, this is not meant to be an obstacle to scoring someone poorly. I simply want to know what is happening and make sure it isn't a large issue than just attitude, IE slowplaying, cheating.

NOTE: Cheating will not be tolerated, if you have an issue with a player cheating, please get a judge immediately so we can handle the situation. Players who are caught cheating will be told to leave. Slow playing is also not tolerated, if you suspect you are being slow played, please get a judge immediately, it is hard to rectify slow play after the game is over. I don't expect this to be an issue, In total we had only one bad game vote between both fantasy and 40k, and it had nothing to do with cheating or slowplay.

At the end of round 4, you will fill in your favorite opponent from the event (so far). Each Favorite opponent vote gets you 2.5 points added to your sports score.

Painting:

Painting will be based on a checklist which will be worth 30 points. I will do by best to have a rough outline for the checklist up shortly.

End result:

Battle: 100 points
Sports: 30 points
Painting: 30 points
Total: 160 points

Awards:
Best Overall: will go to the player with the highest total score. Tie Breaker will be Battle Points.
Best General: will go to the player with the highest Battle point total. Tie Breaker will be sportsmanship.
Best Sport: will go to the player with the highest Sportsmanship score. Tie Breaker will Battle points.
Player's Choice: will go to the player with the most votes for "Favorite Army" by all participants. Tie breaker will be painting score.
Runner up: will be awarded to the player who played on the highest ranked table in round 5 who did not receive a different award (winner first).
Best Painted: will be awarded to the player with the highest score on the checklist. Tie break will be Judges's favorite.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
40k restrictions:
1850 points.
No mysterious terrain or objectives. (unless specified in scenario).
Fortifications: defense line & Bastion are ok.
Warlord powers will be done with each player nomination two tables to roll on, and then rolling once on each table, taking the power of their choice.
All forces must use their most recent codex, including WD replacements.
No IA lists, though FW models may be used to represent a normal codex entry where appropriate.
This event will not use "Mysterious Objectives"
This event will not use "Mysterious Terrain" (p.102-103).
This event will not use "Archotech Artefacts" (p 106).
This event will not use "Unique Terrain" (p. 107).
This event will not any fortifications beyond the Defense Line and Bastion
This event will not allow Escalation
This event will not allow Stronghold Assault
This event will not allow Dataslate formations
This event will allow Dataslate characters.
During this event any 2+ save that is rerolled suffers a -2 penalty to the reroll (effectively making it a 2+/4+)
Fully Painted Armies are required! This means all models must be painted to a three color minimum.
40k Scoring system:
All games will follow the format below.
There will be various objectives that yield victory points throughout each game(for example, kill points, objective based, holding table quarters, slay the warlord, line breaker, first blood, etc...) In each game the score will be determined as follows:
Take 10, add your VP total, subtract your opponents total. Max of 20, Minimum of 0.
For example, if you score 12 VPs in a game, and your opponent scores 8. You would score (10 + 12 - 8 = 14), your opponent would score (10 + 8 - 12 = 6) for a final result of 14-6.
MAX of 20 points per game.
40k Scenarios:
Note: These missions may or may not be final. However, the final missions will look very similar to these.
Missions A: Vanguard Strike deployment. Each player places one objective in their deployment zone(normal rules apply for placing objectives). At the end of the game each of these objectives are worth 4 VPs if controlled. Place a single objective at the center of the table. This is a Relic, follow all normal rules for the relic, except that it cannot be moved until turn 2. The relic is worth 5 VPs if controlled at the end of the game. First Blood, Slay the warlord and line breaker are each worth 1 VP if achieved.
Missions B: Hammer and Anvil deployment. Place 5 objectives along the (6ft) center line of the table. One in the center, one 12" on each side of that objective, and one 12" beyond each of those objectives. Objectives score as follows at the end of the game: Starting with the objective 12" from the back of your deployment zone(which is worth 1VP) each objective closer to your opponents back table edge is worth +1VP(so the one closet to his back edge is worth 5VPs, and the center is worth 3VPs).
First Blood, Slay the warlord and line breaker are each worth 1 VP if achieved. In this mission fast attack choices are considered scoring and yield 1VP if destroyed.
Missions C: Dawn of War deployment. Place one objective at the center of each table quarter and a 5th objective at the center of the table. These objectives may be scored during the game, at the end of your opponents turn if you control them(1 VP each), your opponent can score them at the end of your turn. Scoring these objectives starts during the second game turn, and continues until the game is over. The objective at the center of the table is worth 2VPs each time it is scored.
Annihilation. (Each unit is worth 1VP if destroyed).
First Blood, Slay the warlord and line breaker are each worth 1 VP if achieved.
Missions D: Dawn of War deployment. Place an objective in the center of each table quarter. These objectives are worth 3VPs each at the end of the game. First Blood, Slay the warlord and line breaker are each worth 1 VP if achieved. In this mission Heavy support choices are considered scoring and yield 1VP if destroyed.
Missions E: Vanguard Strike deployment. Place three objectives along the (diagonal) center line. Each of these objectives is a Relic. At the beginning of turn 2. A randomly determined Relic is removed from the table(roll a d3). Each remaining relic is worth 4VPs if controlled at the end of the game. Note: The relic may only be moved during the movement and assault phases of the game. A model with the Independent Character special rule may not move the relic unless it is in a unit with other models.
First Blood, Slay the warlord and line breaker are each worth 1 VP if achieved.
Annihilation (each unit is worth 1VP if destroyed).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Fantasy Restrictions:
2400 points.
We will be using ETC restrictions for this event. There will be a draft out for use for 2014 prior to the event.

Line of sight will be true, with the exception of hills and buildings/impassable terrain, which are considered to be infinitely tall.

All Games will be on a 20-0 sliding VP scale, though scenarios will have addition ways get VPs other than just killing units.
Fleeing units and units below 25% will yeild 50% of their VPs.

Missions will include several objectives during the game that will yield bonus VPs to player who complete them. Most of these will be rather basic(have a unit in your opponent's deployment zone at the end of the game) or come from BRB missions(such as blood an glory).

Fully Painted Armies are required! This means all models must be painted to a three color minimum.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To register, just email me @ onslaughtgt@gmail.com to get on the list. Payment will be 15$ which goes directly to prize support for the event.
NOTE: You will also need to purchase at least a saturday and sunday pass for Templecon to participate. You can get more info about Templecon and weekend passes,
HERE
There are a ton of other events going on, Magic, DnD, Board Games, Wine Tastings, Live music, FoW, Malifaux and more.
Scenarios will be made public prior to the event this year. I will have them up by the first week in December, they are currently in playtest.
Hope to see you all there. I had a great time running it and we are looking to make it an even better time this year.
Thanks,
-Keith
P.S.
Included in the prizes this year for 40k will be NOVA invitational invites for the Best overall and Best general winners.
For Fantasy, this event is the first of the year for qualifying for the USA Masters event (North East residents only, Mid-west, West and southern players qualify at their own events).
Why are you using the ETC format for a singles event? (Fantasy)
ETC comp is clearly designed with team play in mind and isn't particularly balanced well outside of team events.
ETC comp is designed to make all books more balanced with each other. This serves both team and individual events quite well.
We used ETC comp last year and everyone was pretty happy with it.
I'm in. Hopefully my Lamenters will finally be finished for this, though they will be played as generic marines until the new BA codex comes out.
Update, Fantasy is at 36/50, 40k is at 34/50.
A few other points.
First, if the new Tyranids book is out the 11th pf Jan. we will use it. I know that is slightly less than 30 days, but Nids are a self contained book, no allies or being allies and should have less complicated impact than other codex's.
Missions are almost done, and will be posted by the end of this week, likewise with painting rubric.
Hey Sean,
Keith mentioned he is going to post missions and restrictions tonight. In the mean time checkout the primer event that BG is going to run; It should give you a solid idea of what restrictions will be in place at the Onslaught GT.
So a couple of questions on the proposed missions
In Mission C- does controling objectives work as per normal. Scoring Unit within 3" no enemy denial within 3"? The way it is worded makes it sounds like both players can score the same objective (i.e. there is no contesting).
Why 2 missions with Scoring Heavy support? I would think 1 such mission (either C or D) would be fine.
Ill be there Keith for sure. Gota defend the throne. I just have been too lazy to go to the templecon website yet... is it better than last years buggy site?
But yes my dark eldar will return to slay and pillage once more.
Well, that is because I meant to move it from one to the other, but forgot to remove it when I was done.
I'll update shortly.
Controlling objectives is as normal. Though each player can only score at the end of his opponent's turn, so both player can score the same objective during the same game turn, but not during the same player turn.
    Hey, so someone who knows my codex better than I do just pointed out to me that a Canoness isn't allowed to take a meltagun; she can only take a combi-melta. I don't think this made a difference because she never got two shots off, but I'm not positive, and in any event, my bad. Sorry opponents!
