Here's what happened:

I played an ultramarine detachment including Calgar joined by an Honour Guard squad (all swords, 1 axe).
I manage to charge one of his units of Beasts of Nurrgle but do very little damage on my turn (extremely bad rolls). On his turn, a decked-out Daemon Prince joins in (had 4 wounds left) and challenges (probably thought I'd throw Calgar due to EW), I accept with the Champ who gets squished. My squad then proceeds to slap 5 unsaved wounds on the Beasts (chapter banner helped, needed 6s to wound due to enfeebled). Here's the kicker: he loses the round by 4, BOTH the Beasts and the DP must take the Ld test for Daemonic Instability, and thanks to my friend's high rolling, ends up killing both the Beasts and the DP!

In conclusion: if you get the opportunity, it may be beneficial to multi-assault a DP with another squad of weaker infantry, this is assuming that you're fielding a decent assault unit obviously, you can improve your chances by challenging the DP to minimize your losses while you cause a bunch of wounds on the other unit. This isn't gonna occur often, but just something to keep in the back of your mind.

In 5th edition, any fearless model was subject to this kind of shenanigan. Wounding Tervigons by killing Gants was the rule, not the exception.

In 6th edition, Daemons are the only ones left with this kind of weakness. It's neat that you caught onto the idea, but most of us know it already from last edition.

I started playing in 5th too, I was trying to point out a way to get rid of a DP by exploiting Daemonic Instability rule. Hard to pull off, but something to be on the lookout for.

Daemons aren't the only ones who can get crossed up like that. You can run down a Riptide without putting a wound on it if you can make a favorable multi-charge.

Necron storm crypteks can get the lightning field that does wounds to all enemy units involved in the combat and they count towards combat resolution. A buddy of mine got charged by several daemon units. Lightning field did several wounds to each. Combined with actual results of the combat he ended up winning by five wounds or so, which when combined with demonic instability was absolutely devastating.

Not quite the same thing. In this circumstance, you're exploiting the model's lack of Fearless. Rather than piling on additional wounds, you're just forcing a sweep test. Similar enough, I suppose.

Funniest thing is stacking bonus buffs with Ravenwing Standards and the Darkshroud. 2+ rerollable DP came in and stomped my sarge, then died horribly to DI from failing his -2 LD check roll (2 Standards+Darkshroud). It was like Warhammer Fantasy.
