Eldar have always been meant to play that way. It was just back in 2nd there were not objective based games. The hit and run style is their bread and butter, but it is always a gamble because you don't know when the game will end. If you don't spend your time clearing out around objectives Eldar will find themselves praying for that 1 or 2 at the end of turn 5.
Of course I don't play Iyanden which have changed the illusion of Eldar style up a bit. Wraithguard armies have given Eldar a powerful scoring unit that can take objectives last turn and has the toughness and armor not to get blasted away if the game continues. But man are those guys expensive!
