It was good.
It was alright, could use a little more work though.
It could have been better.

I wanted to make a army involving the Iron Warriors and the Thousand Sons while also trying to give them some history for fun, fluffy games and decided around this type of fluff.

"A Thousand Sons Sorcerer wanted to try and mend the damages dealt to the Legion brought on by the Rubric of Ahriman. The Sorcerer thought it shameful that the Legion was reduced to a shadow of its former self with most of its Legionaries being suits of Power Armor with dust inside. The Sorcerer did not wish to lead dust-filled automatons, but brothers who have trained together, fought together, struggled and triumphed together over many battles and wars. But he knew that the physical bodies of the Rubric Marines would never again return to being what it once was and even if succeeded in undoing the Rubric, would his brethren survive as dust filled suits?

No, there must be a replacement body for them. But the Sorcerer could not use slaves or Astartes for if he managed to strip the souls out of their bodies and placed his brethren in them, there would be no guarantee that the Rubric could have some sort of side effect and reduce this new body to dust also. As unlikely as it may seem, he did not want to risk wasting time on possibly fruitless ventures. But what of metal? The Power Armor and equipment of the Rubric Marines remained intact, undamaged by the change. Perhaps using Machine Spirits as the 'mind' for his brethren? He would need to find someone willing to create mechanically controlled Power Armor and test this theory out. Perhaps force a daemon into it to test if a mechanical body would cope with a soul? Luckily, the Sorcerer knows a Iron Warrior Warsmith who would aid him in his endeavor. Most likely the Warsmith would use this as a chance to gather these mechanical daemon pawns for himself, but he would not live long to profit from this agreement."

This is just a basic idea of what the fluff will be about and I plan to incorporate it to the models themselves by grabbing some mechanical limbs from the Iron Hands upgrade pack, and others of the like, and placing them onto some CSM models. Any suggestions to improve, add, or remove parts are appreciated and of course thoughts are appreciated.

Perhaps using Machine Spirits as the 'mind' for his brethren?

This is a contradiction. Brothers != machines. If the sorcerer is trying to get souls or minds inside or outside rubrick marines, using a machine spirit would lead him the opposite way. They would be automatons.

I see it as a first approach to the problem: they delve deeper into the machine-like aspect of the Rubricae in order to better understand what makes them tick.

Perhaps force a daemon into it to test if a mechanical body would cope with a soul?

This is the kind of things warpsmiths are known for. Makes a lot of sense.

Sounds cool!
You are mixing Thousand Sons and Iron Warriors, with lots of conversions to do.

A sorcerer and a warpsmith leading a warband, searching to create a new type of rubrick marine. The first phase of the experimentation involving advanced daemon-binding and self-aware machines. Two chaos leaders motivated by the thirst of knowledge.

One thing however: I still don´t get what the sorcerer really wants. Battle brothers? To recover the minds or the souls of the Rubricae? Did he personally know some of the Rubricae he is in charge of? Perhaps his best friend is now a Rubrick Marine, and he misses him.

Sorry it took so long for me to respond back, my internet was down for some stupid reason and I couldn't check anything. I am thinking the combination of the first two you stated, the Sorcerer wants the minds/souls of his Battle Brothers back so that he doesn't stand in isolation.

I get it.

So we have a Sorcerer who is missing his former brothers, and want to take their mind/souls back from the warp. He has rubrick marines with him and wonders if there is something in these automatons that can still be called brother.

So he contacts a warpsmith known for his deep knowledge of binding souls or daemons to machines. The warpsmith accepts in order to learn more from the Rubricae, or in exchange of something of value.

Sounds cool.

Thanks! But I thought the Rubric Marines' minds/souls were still there with them, just that the Rubric of Ahriman's effects on them left them in their automaton state?

Well according to the Ahriman novel there is still some of them inside them but they can't do anything. I recall the book saying that its like their soul is shackled. My memory is fuzzy.

Another angle on this is that the only way to really destroy a Rubric marine is to annihilate the armor he inhabits. So your warpsmith could be repairing fallen Rubricae by replacing shattered pieces of armor with bionic limbs. This could be the first step towards your sorcerer and warpsmith experimenting to find ways to free their souls from their armor and craft them new bodies.

Wow, I didn't think there would be a guy like that in canon (at least, I hope it's canon).

That is a interesting idea, but for me I can't really imagine a warpsmith doing this type of work just for the sake of knowledge or compassion compared to the warpsmith having a opportunity to create a force of Daemon/souls of Astartes possessed suits of power armour that he can bend to his will (or a loyal(ish) sorcerer controlling them for him). But I feel that I'm missing the point for this so please point it out to me if I missed it.

IMO if you fleshed it out a little more, and gave some names it would sit better with the people who don't think it is quite right yet.

Haha, actually I already know what names I'd give for the characters, I'm just too shy when it comes to sharing names. History is always so much easier to write then making up names. But for those who do want to know then, the names would be;
Sorcerer-Arkus
Warpsmith/Warsmith: Rhodion
List of names for Aspiring Sorcerers: Issek, Sorak, Garion
List of names for Iron Warrior Aspiring Champions: Varek, Arion, Baltek, Ranar

you are well ahead of me it would seem and i do like your names. i'm no good with creating suitable names, so i have named my favorite model Joe.

I had a Commissar named Borris and all he did was shoot marines down to the ground and bash their face in with his power fist in a Kill Team game. These cheesy names must have some sort of power within them, lol
