So after 20 odd years sticking to the Wolves of Russ I wook a break from gaming, I returned a little while ago (huzzah!!!) to find the Wolves an extremely capable force to play with. Although along with this capability came a dull greyness to the army (no pun). They had actually turned into quite a boring army (opinion only).

Sooooo, I sold all my Wolves (all 10K of them). After a short spell of grief, I set my sights on starting a new force. A force that should struggle if used incorrectly, after a little research the much maligned Tyranids sprung to the fore as probably the easiest force to misuse. So it's them I chose and much joy was to be seen across the land.

Now we actually get to the point of this post. I would like some feedback on the following list I have put together. Before you reply, please read the following statement: I play to enjoy the game, not to win. I enjoy causing as much devastation and death as I can. I dont care about objective markers, and I dont really care if all of my little bugs die. I just want to kill as many of the opposition as i can as quickly as i can. Again, please dont put the obvious...'you wont win many games like that' replies in here. I dont care about winning, I care about seeing the horrified faces of the people I play against. I wont win many tournaments, but.....and here's the kicker.....I will enjoy myself. Bearing that in mind, your opinions please ladies and gents.

HQ:
Swarmlord
1 x Tyrant Guard (Lash Whip, Rending Claws) Yup, you guessed it...Deathstar
1 x Prime (Lash Whip, Bonesword, Rending Claws)

ELITE:
Hive Guard x3 Just for a ranged option
Zoanthrope Brood in Spore Bit of anti-armour
Doom in Spore Apparently for his points, one the most potentially devastating models in the codex

TROOP:
Termigants x 15 (Toxin Sacs)
Termigants x 15 (Toxin sacs)
Termigants x 13 (Toxin Sacs)
Tervigon (Toxin Sacs)
Tervigon (Toxin Sacs)

HEAVY:
Carnifex in Spore (Talons and Crushing Claws)
Carnifex in Spore (Talons and Crushing Claws) I know these guys are underpowered for their points (i.e better stuff in the codex for the points) but i love the models and tbh the idea of them is kinda cool (taken mainly as anti-heavy armour)

So, answers on a postcard please chaps be gentle. I havent played 6th and this is the first nid army i have put together in a long long time. Total points 1995

Thanks for reading

I would urge you to wait a little while before jumping into nids. January is rumored to be a fresh new Tyranid codex. New models, new codex and new tactics will be a large part of the release and changes could change your thoughts on a 2000pts list.

Cheers for the reply Cap, had heard that rumour too. Maybe a new MC called Karkinos

Already have the majority of the army bought and built. All the big boys are magnetised, not too worried about small changes. Plus, this will keep me going until the new dex arrives.

Thanks for the info though

You want horrified faces? Take as many Tervigons as possible. Watch as, per Tervigon, you spawn 3D6 Termagaunts every turn (assuming you don't roll doubles). This is my idea of fun with 'Nids! And sometimes it works, I just love drowning people in bodies(bugs?)

As far as advice on your list goes I don't like the idea of small warrior squads. Melta's, missles and other S8 weapons will make short work of them as they instantly kill them even if you have 3 wounds a piece. I know you are going for a fun list but tervigons will make your games much more enjoyable. You can spawn free troop, grant nice psychic powers and hold objectives with a T6 W6 MC.

With so many things in spores your only strong model (the swarmlord) will get picked on with all the shooting. If you take only one tyrant guard and roll Iron arm on biomancy for your swarmlord you gain majority toughness. A key part of keeping him alive.

Thanks for that dude, appreciate it. The single guard for the Swarmlord is something i had missed with Ironarm cheers. I had tried to stay away from Tervigons as everyone seems to be taking them...but i guess thats for a reason lol.

Thanks for the advice dude

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok, so in response to the advice from Cap and Hinata.......the units of warriors have been dropped and 1 tyrant guard has been dropped. The Termigant unit is down to 15 models. In addition, there are now two further units of Termigants (15 and 13) and two Tervigons with Toxin Sacs.

Whaddya reckon

Be careful with podding the fexes w/ only cc stuff on them. They can't assault the turn they come out of the pod so they may get shot some before they can get in close enough to assault. Alotta people that pod fexes run them w/ 2x Devourers.

If you want "terrified" : drop the 13 gants, give the fexes double devourer AND bioplasma. They still are S9 Ap2.
If you stay cc I suggest the grenade equivalent for the fexes.

Sadly, MCs can only fire 2 weapons per turn. Unless you're a Tyrannofex, which in his case, he gets to fire all three due to his special rule.
