A nice 30 year sentence for the unlawful possession of of printed firearms and this problem basically goes away.
Much like the distinct possibility of a life sentence for meth possession over a certain amount instantly curbed the problem. Oh wait.
Besides that, define "Printed firearm" for me please. Is it a firearm that is 100% printed, comes out of the machine in an assemble and fire state? I'm betting the one in
OP isn't. There was some amount of hand finishing/fitting or machining done to those parts after they came out of the printer. If you're talking anything more powerful than a small handgun like in the
OP, you might just be factoring in some pretty decent heat treat issues as well.
Is the receiver that is the only part that actually needs a license to manufacture? And is that only if you sell it?
Yep. Serial numbers are encouraged but not required by BATFE unless you sell it, and you don't need a FFL unless you're going to be selling the things. State laws may be more restrictive. You must comply with 922(R) even though its yet more nonsensical government meddling, and you still need to follow the NFA regulations if you want to make anything unusual like a sawed off shotgun.
wtf is with that noticeable delay on the slide return when it's returning to battery between shots?
Welcome to the 1911: King of feedway stoppages. My money would be on a worn out/damaged mag, or rough surfaces on the feed ramp or slide rails. Both are easy to fix, but annoying.
