Good evening,

When I was about 8 or 9 years old I can remember begging my Dad to let me buy some space orks from my friends older brother. He was really against the idea as they were made of lead and he feared that I would eat them. I can remember thinking they were so cool and wanting to have them so much crying to my dad : 'I don’t want to eat them.... I just want to paint them.

I got back into the hobby a couple of years ago and have been painting my white space wolves for almost 2 years with a mix of old and new models.

I wanted a new painting mission that would be fun and stress free just to do now and then, I have decided to start back on the orks. I am not a fan of the newer look of the orks, I don’t want to be an old school purist but I think for me the nostalgia of 2nd edition/rogue trader Space Ork raiders is what is fuelling this one.

I'm about 3 months into this project now and it's on hold due to a big move across from UK to Australia.
The army will be a mix of different clans but with similar colours throughout to bind them together ( I think they call this synergy!) I play 6th edition so hope to use the army with the new codex if it ever arrives.

.In preparation for my move from UK to Australia I have been mulling over which army I should take. I am fearful of immigration in Australia taking my nice toys (thanks for all your comments on this by the way) and have decided just to take this army I am working on. I have decided to snap off the sand bases just in case this causes a problem.
But before I do this here are the finished units so far:

Finished bad moons

Evil Suns

Blood Axes

Death Skulls

Mega Nobz

Gretchin

Dakka Jet (note the pilot- gunner)

I have loads more models which is why I want to finish them off- maybe I will rebase them with a Mars theme or something different (like the pure sand from Australian beaches )

That's a great collection, it's funny to think those minis (minus the jet) are older than a lot of us. I like that you dedicated them to different clans, they must be a lot of fun to play.

A mate of mine had them. Odd to think that, given the way the Nobs now look, that the fellow with the chainsword and bolt pistol held crossed over his chest was Thrugg Bullneck, Ork Warboss.

Like how you painted them in the scheme that was so popular for orks around that era. Very bright, strong colours.

Thanks for sharing these, very much enjoyed viewing them.

No problem- happy that you like them.
Due to the move they are all boxed up now with lots more to paint. But I had one last go at this Blood axe weirdboy who I have had for years and always wanted to spend some time on.
