I'm just wondering about the community's thoughts on modelling and painting Skullcrushers as a Tzeentch unit. My army is intended to be all-Tzeentch, but this of course normally restricts certain units. So I was thinking about grabbing a box of Skullcrushers and removing all the Khorne iconography and swapping some bitz with the Chaos Knights box, and then giving them a blue on gold paint job.

Any thoughts on this?

Ehhhh... I'm not a big fan of the idea, since everything about them screams KHORNE. I'm not usually a fan of 'cake and eat it too' lists that try for a fluffy theme and go for loopholes like that, though, so I think I'm just being a little snobby.

I think if you're going to do this, you need to do it without the Skullcrushers at all. Come up with a Tzeentchy big monstrous mount from somewhere and use that instead. Just swapping a paint job would make me kinda sad, but if I saw a ton of conversion work making something awesome I wouldn't mind the fact that it's skirting fluff.

I'd agree, while there's nothing stopping you from doing it feels a bit... lazy. Mind you, that's just an opinion, and at the end of the day it's honestly a minor complaint, at the most.

A cool conversion would, I'd think, make the most sense. Maybe using screamers, or even chaos knights riding Disks of Tzeentch (which would be pretty easy to convert)

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

I once saw slanesshi converted Skullcrushers.. then again converted! as Cryon above said.. i think Disk riders might be something to go for.... but then again disks doesnt hit as hard... what about spawns?

Bloodcrushers are about as Khorne as you can get, aside from a big pile of bloody skulls. Just giving them a new paintjob won't make them any less obvious as a khorne unit.
Now, nothing says you can't paint and convert them up into tzeentch units, but you'll still have to use them as a Khorne unit in accordance with the rules. They get hit by the slaanesh table result, deepstriking tzeentch units off their icon go 6" scatter, etc.
If you want to use the models to represent a Tzeentch unit, you'll have a pretty hard time of it, since none of their stuff comes on a cavalry base or 60mm base to fit the model aside from the blue scribes and burning chariots.

Er, wrong army and game, I think. He's talking about Warriors of Chaos.

I think a Chaos Spawn mount might be awesome. You could make it super-Tzeentchy with lots of mutations, and it could conceivably match the rules at least somewhat. If I saw Tzeentch warriors riding Spawns and you told me you were using the Skullcrusher rules for them, I think I could dig it. Disk riders are a bit more troublesome because they wouldn't be flying, and the stats don't quite match up. Could be something to explore, though.

Found the slanesh conversion i talked about, i bet you could do the same with tzeentch just with other colours and riders.

For me, tzeentch is the changer, so I'd have no problem with you saying tzeentch "morphed" some khorne demons to his side.

Anyone that thinks they can explain the ways of demons is a madman, so you'll have no trouble justifying it in a tournsment, as at the end of the day it's still just a color scheme.

Besides, blue and gold skull crushers would look awesome

Yeah, there's almost no reason daemons can't do pretty much anything. TZ changed them. TZ brainwashed them. Khorne and TZ are momentarily joining forces (which doesn't even break the fluff). TZ created his own bloodcrushers. etc etc.

I mean the stuff that would harder to do would make a Khorne caster.

As far as WoC goes, they don't have the same hate levels that Daemons have. They're all humans in the name of chaos. Some (many) have no starting mark and you're not required to take one. Only true daemons have to be allied, like the DP. That said, Skullcrushers are daemon mounts and are from Khorne. You could say the rider was unaligned or TK or you could convert the mount a little.

I use the Chaos Dwarf Bull Centaurs as counts-as Skullcrushers. I like to say they've been driven crazy by the mutation into bull centaurs to help explain the extra attacks. I'm not a fan of Khorne, so the Skullcrusher models were right out.

I love the skull crusher models! and wanted them in my army, but didn't want them as Khorne as I too play a MOT list! So i bought the pack of 3, converted on to make him my BSB on Daemonic Mount and then made the other 2 my Chariot proxies.
If i like a model I'll go out of my way to fit him into my list and generally the friends I play couldn't care less. As long as you explain and have the right bases etc...
As the above state: If you want them in your army as Skullcrushers, they'll have to be khorne. This does not mean you have to paint them red! your army, your colour scheme

Have you considered Tzeentch riders on Khorne mounts? I love the subjugation angle for bringing in divided units to a mono-fluff. While having a divided army is fine with the fluff, you could have a pretty cool conversion with Tzeentch guys forcing their will on crazed Khorne mounts.

Honestly, who cares if they are skull crushers or not.

Just build something that looks cool and say they count as blood crushers for rules sake in a themed army.

Just found something, if it looks like this I don't think anyone would oppose against you using it as a skull crusher

If I saw that across the table, I would let it have 8 attacks out of sheer awesome.

Change the face plate things out for something more daemonic, or even at least if this was me, see if the Dark Elf Hydra heads would fit, replace the tails with a more Chaos like set of blades, and such. And you're done!

They are lithe, magic looking, deadly, but still have that mecha/fantasy hybrid deal the Skullcrushers have.

Those look great! That's always been something that bothered me about Chaos. Every god has a uniform that must be adhered to. Khorne is red, Tzeentch is blue, Nurgle is green, and Slaanesh is pink and no one can ever be different! Doesn't that go against what Chaos really is? Wouldn't chaos being uniform make them all blink into oblivion?
