Ok so the situation is this:

If you have an IG squad with X infantery units comprised as a single platoon lead by a Lord Commissar. I can merge these X infantery units into a single squad which will be joined by Azrael from the DA.

The Lord Commissar has two important special rules:

1 Summary Execution - you will pass every morale test but your highest LD character will die
2 Aura of Discipline - any friendly unit within '6 of a Lord Commissar may use his leadership of 10 for any morale or pinning test as well as leadership test incurring by orders issued to the squad

Azrael can choose the Courge of the Lion wartrait. The exact wording is as follows:

The Warlord, and all friendly units within '12 of him roll an aditional dice when making leadership tests, discard the highest.

I don't want my Warlord to be excecuted and as IG guardsmen only have Leadership 7 this makes me a little worried. With this setup is it possible to use the Aura of Discipline to get a leadership 10 and then to use the Courage of the Lion to get an extra D6 for the roll meaning that I have to roll a 5,6,6 or a 6,6,6 to fail my leadership test.

If it doesnt work like this then how does this workout? I could always but the Lord Commissar on the frontrow ensuring that he would die before a leadership test has to be taken.

I believe there is also a FAQ that states that the Commisar will not execute a battle brother IC attached to the squad for summary execution. As stated above though, Inner Circle on Azrael makes the blob fearless.

Better than a FAQ, an Amendment:

Page 32 – Commissars, Summary Execution.
Change the first sentence to read “If the Commissar has joined
a squad chosen from Codex: Imperial Guard and it fails a
Morale test, the Commissar will summarily execute the squad’s
current commander – this is the Imperial Guard model in the
squad with the highest Leadership value.”

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I forgot that he gives the squad Fearless which makes it even better. That makes it really a big blob that hits pretty hard when it charges.

Also summary execution does not make you auto pass just lets you try again. If you fail that time you will retreat but as you have a fearless marine hanging out with you that is a non issue mostly.
