Edit: We have now found the 4th person for our team- krootman, who is probably better at playing nids than the rest of us are at everything else put together . We'll be taking a more "fun" slant on our theme most likely, but it's still awesome to have such a talented player!

-------------------------------------------

AgeOfEgos, Ketara, and myself have been talking for several weeks now about our plans for our Adepticon team tournament team "Dakka Detachment 3", but we need a 4th member! The name is a bit of a misnomer as "Dakka Detachment 2" might not enter this year, but "Dakka Detachment 1" of yakface, Janthkin, Blackmoor, and Centurian99 will still be as far as I know.

The perfect fit would be someone who is obviously familiar with 40k, and could become familiar with tyranids, but is willing to use a provided tyranid army rather than bring their own. This might mean that they could chip in to preparations for the team in other ways, such as making a display board or banner / other team item.

The reason the army would be provided is due to our theme, which is summarized here:

A far-flung pre-Heresy marine detachment, encountering an early tyranid scouting force. This will explain why the 2 nid armies we'll have don't look like the current nids- there have been 10k years of adaptation, and this was just a scout/rogue leading edge of a fleet, disconnected from the rest and quite branched in their mutations. AgeOfEgos and Ketara will be running the pre-Heresy marine armies, and myself and our 4th member would ideally run the tyranid armies. I would provide both tyranid armies, assuming all goes according to plan!

The models I'll be using to make the 2 nid armies are spoilered below. These are the Trollforged models which I expect to receive Wave 1 of in plenty of time to have the army ready. In 2012 I was able to complete my team tournament army in just a few weeks, but obviously I'll hope to have more time than that to get ready!

Spoiler:

Gaunts:

Currently unassigned (no good fit from the current book, but who knows when the next hits in Dec/Jan!):

Genestealers:

Zoanthrope (the larger one in the background):

Big Bug #1 - Perhaps a Carnifex (missing it's extra bits, size comparison to the large grub shown above):

Big Bug #2 - Perhaps a Tervigon (also missing it's extra bits, same size comparison):

These are all "wave 1" models, so I expect to get them early next year.

So, with all that said, if you are interested in joining us, please PM me and/or post that you are interested here. Registration is on Thursday and I would like to have our full team accounted for before then! I will be paying for and registering the team, and then getting $40 from each member via Paypal to cover their portion.

I'll post here when the spot is taken... feel free to post thoughts in the thread, too! Cheers

Hey guys, I've had a PM from a nids player who would be able to fill in really well I think, so this is now pending. The main requirement is being familiar with nids, so that's probably going to swing it!

Thanks very much for the messages of interest and I'll confirm here later today.

Thanks for having me guys, I am looking forward to playing with the new bug book. I fully plan on blasting the starship troopers theme song during deployment and each moment phase!

That actually works really well, given that we'll have marines and bugs teamed up in some games

Team theme: marines running from the bugs and acting as a screen before the enemy

I actually used the starship troopers models for my marines in the team tournament in 2012! But I'll be the other bug player this time around
