I can see you intend to keep your OLord and RC in the Ghost ark to charge forward to destroy vehicles or masses of people. In my experience, I have found that gift-wrapping my OLord and sending him forward inevitably just gives my opponent First Blood and Slay the Warlord that much faster. With the 12" range on the StormTeks, you may want to reconsider as you probably won't be able to shoot much on turn 1 anyway.

If your intent is you keep your OLord in the ghost ark, there isn't much reason to have MSS or Semp weave. If you want to keep all that stuff, you might want to consider using Nemesor at 185pts. He has almost all of the stuff you are after (minus MSS), plus special rules that are quite nice. If the immortals are only there to grab objectives, you could save the 20 pts and just make them warriors. 5 Immortals will get killed off a hair slower than the 4 warriors.

I have also found that using DestrucTeks in a Ghost ark to be amazing. The 36" range is the longest ranged weapon you'll have, it gives you Str8 AP2 shots that can threaten most vehicles with the range that will keep your OLord out of trouble as well. Also, you don't have any weapons with a strength higher than 7 except for the Doom Scythe and you don't have any low AP weapons except for the Warscythe and the Doomscythe. The DestrucTeks give you a little more punch, especially against monstrous creatures and AV 13 vehicles.

I like the four shots of the Voltaic staff, but agree with your assesment. Especially against longer range shooting opponents, as the ghost ark isn't exactly like a dark elder transport in its manouverability. I've got two more versions, the first is a version of this list:

D Lord (semp weave, mss)

O Lord (semp weave, res orb)
Royal Court:
3x Destruction (1 with gaze of flame)
1x Storm (with lightning field)


5x warriors ghost ark (with overlord and all of royal court)
5x warriors night scythe
5x warriors night scythe
5x warriors night scythe

6 wraiths - 4 with coils (w d lord)

ann barge
ann barge
doom scythe


OR, this ammended list:

D Lord (semp weave, mss)

Trazyn the infinite

5x Lychguards in Night Scythe (Trazyn going with these - hard to knock off an objective with Trazyn's hop on ability and all those wounds and saves?)

5x warriors in Night Scythe
5x warriors in Night Scythe
5x warriors in Night Scythe

6x wraiths (4 with coils - d lord with these)

ann barge
ann barge
doomsday ark

Think this one could be fun to use...

I like the first list, I would use something similar to that.

For the second list, I actually prefer to use Necron Lords in an RC instead of Lychguard. For 5 more points, you essentially get ever living instead of reanimation protocals so someone doesn't just blow your 200 pt unit away and you are stuck without a reanimation roll. I bought Lychguard for the same reason as you, I thought they would be amazing and would eat people's lunch in melee combat but they are a big target and usually won't survive through your opponent's round of shooting. Now all of my warscythe Lychguard are just Necron Lords with warscythes. 5pts gets you a chance to stand back up again. Oh and they are all characters so Trazyn won't have to get stuck into a combat with a character if you get challenged and he can use this staff to massacre regular units instead of a character with a 2+ armor save.

Oh and I love doomsday arks but be prepared for it to soak a lot of shooting. If you can use your Anni Barges to block for it for a turn or two, I would recommend it.

My thought with the Doomsday ark is that yes - it gives something large with high AV to freak the opponent out. Put it as far away as possible obvs. Put my wraith unit as far forward as possible. That's an interesting idea about making the lychguard lords. I basically agree about the first list being more competitive, but I think it would be fun to throw the pie plate about and have Trazyn keep coming back from the dead! I guess with lords one of them could take an orb too for the unit... (shouldnt all the named o/lords just GET one of them?)

AH true, you can't take the nightscythe unless you drop 5 of the warriors off and embark the RC. Place the RC and Traz near one of you objectives and just have a unit of 5 warriors drop out on your objective and put the RC and Tra in instead. Or just leave the night scythe empty and have them near and board edge, embark them as soon as the nightscythe comes on the board and then move it. You can embark at the beginning or end of your movements. Embark on turn two, disembark on turn three. Something else you can do if you don't mind dropping the Dlord, take Vargard Obyron to teleport your RC around the table. He's already a beast in melee and he teleports. You could even drop the wraiths altogether and use the points to give your RC Semp Weave and/or phase shifters. You would have a deathstar with 2+ saves, warscythes, and everliving rolls with Vargard to move them wherever you need them. ResOrb would just be the icing on the cake. It probably wouldn't win in tournaments but it would be a lot of fun to test out.

Oh and yeah, I wish the named had res orbs but then you'd be adding 30pts to all their costs (except for Nemesor who starts with one). If Nemsor had a warscythe, everyone would take him.

My feeling on the Trazyn+LG unit is that you really have to commit to make it work. It needs a "challenge king" lord with WS/MSS/SW/RO, and I feel it works best with Sword&Board LG as maxed out as you can afford. As Warmonger said, they attract a ton of firepower. You've got to make them strong enough to withstand the alpha strike.

Once you do that, it's a pretty nasty unit. No one wants to deal with 12 T5 Scoring wounds with 3+/4++ and 4+ RP sitting in their backfield.

If you like the stormteks, swap one of those guys out for a despairtek and then DS your stormteks around the table into firing range.

I did almost this exact setup except I had a unit of 5 deathmarks in there too with the HFH ruleset.
