I know terminators are an iffy subject these days, but I wound up snapping up a bunch of models on the cheap and thus must ask - has anyone tried running a variation on the Logan Grimnar terminator army list with any success? Or has the sheer weight of fire and amount of AP2 on the table rendered it a moot point?

I don't have Space Wolves myself, but I have played against their various army builds throughout the years so I know what hurts.

Here's the most dangerous list I've encountered with Logan so far:

1998
Logan (Warlord)
5 WG Terminators- Power Axe x4, Power Fist, Combi-Plasma x5, Drop Pod
5 WG Terminators- Power Axe x4, Chainfist, Combi-Plasma x5, Drop Pod
6 WG Terminators- Power Axe x5, Cyclone ML
5 WG Terminators- Power Axe x5, Cyclone ML
5 TWC- SS x5, TH x1
6 Long Fangs- Multi-Melta x5, Drop Pod
6 Long Fangs- ML x5
6 Long Fangs- ML x5

Chaos Space Marines

The 2 foot-slogging Terminator units chase Objectives and fire the Cyclones at Rhinos or Cyclones and Storm Bolters and flying Monstrous Creatures to ground them while the deep striking Multi Melta Long Fang unit pops big important vehicles or Obliterators. Since a 2nd pod can arrive as well, the plasma terminators kill important stuff that pops out of those important vehicles..

..or just more Obliterators.

When i play my Wolf Termies in 6th i have found that they still work under 2 situations.

Go full bore with bodies. at 33 points a model we are pretty cheep. with lots of people gearing for tau and eldar. we have to watch out for high AP but they tend to not bring the weight of wounds that hurts Termies. unless they are eldar =P so take very little toys. heavy weapons. i prefer the assault cannon more shots. but the missile launcher is just as balanced. avoid paying for power fists. one hidden in a squad is good. march them across the field and you can some times down people in weight of fire.

the other is mix them in with the rest of your army. Termies arn't as scary if they are over shadowed by land raiders or Drop pod spam.

its all in how you play them. at least that is what i have noticed in my area.

I'll have to give it a try. I'm usually very stingy with my point-spending but I have realized that almost always ends with me running extremely similar lists. This will be a pleasant departure.

I used to field this army. Usually had good results because people were not ready for it more than anything else.
I fielded Logan
4 Wolfguard cyclone, 2combi-meltas, twin lit claws,
5 Wolfguard Arjac, cyclone, thunderhammer storm shield, 2 combi meltas,
5 Wolfguard 2 combi meltas, cyclone, combi flamer, storm shield lightning claw.
5 Wolfguard 2 combi meltas, cyclone, combi flamer, storm shield lightning claw.
5 Wolfguard 2 combi meltas, cyclone, combi flamer, storm shield lightning claw.

There was a mix of close combat weapons, I think each squad had a chainfist. Each wolfguard unit had a drop pod.

That was my 1850 force. For 2k I added either a pair of lone wolves in termy armor or a rifleman dread. I enjoyed the hell out of the list and if I knew that HH Night Lords were going to get such a nice buff over the normal HH lists I wouldn't have sold them hehe.(yes I had them painted as night lords, the characters were awesome IMO)

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

Na....
On paper it looks pretty nasty. I've not faced on in the game before.

I may have to try that one. I've been looking for an excuse to use Arjac. Do you find it lacking in any department in particular?
