You need more blasts. Drop your platoon standard for another grenade launcher. Also drop the voxes for a master of ordnance. Maybe some griffon mortars or basilisks?

Personally I would drop the vet squad for another infantry squad with the same equipment so freeing you 20 points for extra nade launchers in your ccs and pcs

i would love to replace the vet squad with something else but due to ig ridiculousness that entire platoon counts as 1 troop choice. no i am not kidding.

also, can't take another infantry squad, platoons can take a max of 5 infantry squads.

I actually do want to try it. i expect it to be a lot of fun but not really accomplish much in terms of actually winning. It has no anti-air and one av 14 vech could table the entire list. but imagine this list against ork tide or tyranid swarm. it is a ridiculous amount of scoring models laying down a ridiculous amount of fire power for the points so i could see focusing on taking out their scoring models with all the heavy weapon squads while focusing on taking objectives with your mobile units.

It would probably be a better use of points but fluff wise I just can't keep my hands of the standards and voxs. Orders, always important of ig, would be really important in this list as you would be reling on glancing hits and what not to make any vechs or monstrous creatures useless.

How about this:

Imperial Guard

HQ
Company Command Squad
Grenade Launcher, Missile Launcher, 2x Bodyguard, Master of Ordnance

Troops
Infantry Platoon
Platoon Command Squad, 2x Grenade Launcher, Missile Launcher
Infantry Squad, Grenade Launcher, Mortar
Infantry Squad, Grenade Launcher, Mortar
Infantry Squad, Grenade Launcher, Mortar
Infantry Squad, Grenade Launcher, Mortar
Infantry Squad, Grenade Launcher, Mortar
Heavy Weapons Squad, 3x Mortar

Veteran Squad, 3x Grenade Launcher, Missile Launcher

Heavy Support
Basilisk (125pts)

Inquisition
HQ
Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, Psyker, 3x Servo-skulls
Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, Psyker, 3x Servo-skulls

Fortifications
Aegis Defense Lines, Quad-Gun

Total 998

The Inquisitors take Divination, default to the Primaris power, and TL your blasts, the servo-skulls reduce friendly scatter to 1D6". With an Inquisitor in the squad, they gain stubborn, so you put one with the Vets and one with the blob. Aegis gives you some AA, and missile launchers with a lucky skyfire nexus could be good.

Oh yes, and you get LD 10 from those inquisitors, so orders are easier.

If xeno why not some conversion beamers to boot.

Doesn't really matter which order, I just picked one.

But a conversion beamer or two would not go amiss.

That list would be more competitive for sure. however, there is less blast than this list, which while probably better goes against the fun name. And i don't think i would blob the infantry squads in this instance as much as i like Ig blob. I think blobbing would make the list to vulnerable to template and blast/large blast/ordinance weapons. Not blobbing also make it so that the enemy has to one by one kill off your squads instead of pouring everything into one blob every time

i like the basilisk idea but i think if you brought this army everyone would basically target the basilisk first thing as its the only thing with a high strength ranged attack. i would be surprised if the basilisk lasted beyond the second turn.

Part of the idea of this list is that its so copy and paste there is no real clear target for your enemy. so he has to spend his time killing 10 copies of squad x while you can hopefully pick off his more important squads.

I came for the title, I stayed to stress that you need more high-strength weaponry.

Knowing the standard opinion (and that's all it is) on what is good/bad and conforming to that opinion religiously are two entirely separate things.

I agree Talore, it does need more high-strength weaponry if I wanted it to actually be competitive, but this would purely be a for gaks and giggles list. I believe there is an optimal play style for this list as is that could lead to victory against lists that didn't have more than a couple heavy vechs and or flyers as well as heavy melee units. so it wouldn't succeed against very many competitive lists.

But against horde lists or shooty lists I could see success being positive.

It wouldn't be optimal even if it was balanced, haha. Do consider that with high-strength weaponry, you could keep the theme running while being able to enjoy a wider variety of matchups, is all.
