I am going to start building a space marine army. I have ogled it since the new book and am taking my first bite. I am looking at the models that I like and am wondering if this would work for normal tournament play.

Chapter Tactics - Salamanders

Vulkan

Ironclad w/ HF + DP
Ironclad w/ HF + DP
5 Assault Terms with TH/SS

5 Tac Marines, meltagun, combi-melta, melta-bombs, DP
5 Tac Marines, Plasmagun
5 Tac Marines, Plasmagun

Stormtalon, Skyhammer Missile Launcher
Stormtalon, Skyhammer Missile Launcher

3 Centurions, 2 grav cannons, 1 TLLC, 1 ML, Omni, Land Raider

Idea is that first turn Ironclads drop and wreck as much as they can. Vulkan goes with the Cents to shield them when they disembark turn 2 to unleash havoc. I am not quite sure how the Terminators fit in and I am guessing they will deepstrike. I juat have an idea for what I want the army to look like. All comments/criticism are welcome. If it is complete garbage, let me know where to start changing it! As I have only bought some tac marines, the entire range is open.

I am not looking for the world beater or I would build a White Scar grav spam army. I also don't want to get wasted every game as I am thinking about taking it to tournaments

I'm new to playing marines myself, and I'm torn between crimson fists and salamanders, with a little tiny urge for ultra marines!

2 issues with this list for me! First at 1850 points, 15 marines broken into 3 scoring units really won't cut the mustard! It will make it hard to hold any objectives, ever.

Also, salamanders with Vulkan should be cramed with flamer and melta weapons! That's the whole point in them! I think you won't benefit from the tactics all that much!

You sought to cower behind your walls, weakling? Instead, by the will of Khorne, you shall die behind them

Paint your army a color that can be used for anything. I've gone with white - because I think it looks good on the table. Then you can swap to whaterver you want to play.

This is a big problem. 15 scoring models at 1850 is a bad idea. They will get blown away quickly and you will have a hard time getting objectives.
Please note that 5/6 of the book missions are objective based. That means without troops your only chance of winning is to table your opponent.
