I like Coat d'Arms...
Note that the "Solid Gold" in the Coat d'Arms range is NOT the same as the old Citadel "Solid Gold" even though it was made by Coat d'Arms and relabeled at the time.
You'll want to buy the P3 "Solid Gold" for that old equivalent to that specific old GW gold paint.

Yeah, my first experience of C'dA was to try and get hold of equivalents for the old GW coloured metallics: Amethyst Purple, Glistening Green and Polished Blue. I bought them but they didn't have anywhere near the same vibrancy of colour, luckily I found my old pots so my Cd'A stuff have been unused in the years since I bought them. I also tried buying their bornw and chestnut inks, but I think I was matching to the wrong generation as they were nothing like what I was after.

The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.” |

As a counterpoint, I have some GW paints from ~20 years ago that are still good. And I paint with the lid open.

I'm so glad I still have these. Any idea where we can get replacements for these colours for the day when the originals run out?

I use cda metallic purple, and I find it pretty vibrant. You have to shake the hell out of it first though. I'm struggling to remember what the original looked like though. Back in them days, I was poor, so just mixed worm purple and chainmail.

I am looking for a US distributer, thanks for the link! My FLGS can get some non- GW paints, but not the Coat d'Arms line.

I love Mechrite Red (it's a major color for both my Blood Angels and my Khador), but everything I hear is that it's replacement is closer to Blood Red than anything else.
Which kind of sucks because it's a great red. I'm also a lot less fussy about Leadbelcher than Boltgun metal, it's a lot thicker and darker. Same with the replacements for Devlan Mud and Badab Black.
While I still stick to some Citadel paints, I've kind of moved onto replacing them with Vellejo (in the case of the metals) or P3. P3 gives a lot of paint per pot and is pretty great quality.

Indeed, Mephiston Red(while my new favorite red) is much closer to Blood than Mechrite.
VGC's Heavy Red is closer to Mechrite, but is a decent bit darker.

The only Citadel Paint I use is Liquid Green Stuff. Other than that I haven't used the new line of paints because they are ridiculously overpriced versus other paints on the market. Unlike their miniatures, there is nothing unique about model paint and GW seems to not understand there is relative pricing competition here. Most of the other paint lines are less than half of GW's prices (Vallejo is about $0.15 per ml versus GW at $0.33 per ml).
Personally, I use Vallejo Model Color and Air (Air has great metallics) primarily with some Reaper Master Series (mainly for fleshtones) for my paints. For washes, I mainly use Army Painter with specific use of some of the Vallejo Washes (mainly for weathering effects).

Rather than stick exclusively to GW paints I'd have a look about , I agree with others , Vallejo Tamiya et al have some great colours.
I like "Foundry" paints ALOT , they're sold in packs of 3 , shade actual colour and light , for those wanting quick shading / highlighting. But also the pigment is so dense you can thin and thin this paint and you just keep getting better and better colours !
