Don't worry we won't be some super hardcore group that require hours of your time. But I wouldnt know what our Corp could specialise in (if anything) until we've got more guys.

Well I am mainly a mission runner. But have the skills (sp) for PVP. If I get enough money to buy PLEX I could reactivate my miner/industrial guy. Who can also run a Dominix drone boat or Nidhoggur carrier.

I'd be interested. My main, Tibus Massani (~40 mil sp), lives in Jita, and my mission running alt (~20 mil sp) lives around Dodixie. If you see the corp ticker IVHF anywhere, the character likely one of my alts.

Bah, you guys are killing me with all this talk of playing again...and a Dakka Corp. Got a 20m sp missioner laying around near Jita and I'm finding it harder and harder to justify NOT subbing again.

Shoot me a mail so I know who you are. All you need is the person's in game name to send them stuff, but I'd rather have the mail in game to ensure I'm sending it to you and not someone with a similar name.

I accidentally have 3 accounts now. I thought when I bought that $4.95 steam deal that I could activate one of my old accounts. But nope, it created a new account tied to my steam name.

So I started a Gallente. And I have found that the new player tutorials and missions reward you fairly well.

I think my first real mission gave me over 200k isk. Plenty to buy a small pile of skills to start training. And was given the new cool looking mining frigate to boot!

i have been playing some old MMOs again and have the sudden urge to fire Eve back up again. I wish i could remember my character names to maybe buy them back again but starting over wouldnt be so bad either. i might give the 14 day a shot as i think quite a bit has changed since i last played.

When did you last play?

i think i last played in '06 when Revelations 1 came out, i think it was the addition of rigs that had me confused and turned me off from the game ( among other things).

I sold my accounts after that and have no idea what happened to them.

i am still very unsure about returning to the game as my 2 accounts required so much time to play. I already have too many games to play with GTA Online and World of Tanks so my time as a casual gamer is very limited.

Yeah...its a pretty different game now. Too many changes to list.

Also, I gave up on WoT. So much rage dealing with 14 other paste eaters in pub matches. Got to 57-58%, figured good enough and left.

I played for a little while, then my friend invited me to join his mining operation inside some hidden wormhole.

Pirates came in and chased them all off while I was offline, so since I had no sensors I couldn't get out of the wormhole. I could self-destruct, but I was several weeks' training behind in my clone and all my money was into this one ship. Not to mention all the implants I had collected.

Reminds me of a story I had once. I was in a destroyer salvaging behind some people running wormholes when a stealth bomber appeared out of nowhere and started launching torpedoes at me. Since my destroyer was so small each torpedo only took off about 75% of the shield, so one of the T3 ships that was running the site just put a remote shield rep on me and I continued happily salvaging while the bomber kept putting torpedoes into me. Wormholes were fun back in the day!

Is PvP mandatory in this game? I've been curious about it for a while. It looks fantastic, but all I hear is about how cut-throat it is (aswell as being a huge time sink). I'd kind of like to just go at my own pace and do PvE than get owned by people who put a lot more time in than I do.

pvp is a part of the game, it is completely possible to play without it by working in highsec ( each system is given a rating to tell you how safe or dangerous is) you can also avoid pvp by equipping your ship with electronic warfare gear or use a stealth ship.

Eve is not a solo game so i would reccomend joining a corp (guild) that does the same things you do. my first corp built ships for the small area we were in and we would often have group mining with newer players ferrying resources. we would also do missions together and newer players would gather loot untill they could contribute enough damage.

That being said, even in large scale pvp newer players are needed just as much as experienced players. it doesn't take much time to learn the skills to fly an electronic warfare ship which are pretty vital to many large battles.

There are also in-game features with the map that will help you to navigate the systems safely. you can see how often people have visited a system , how many deaths and a whole bunch of information that is build into the map.

PvP is a massive part of the game, but can be avoided.
Eventually, everything in Eve leads to PvP, whether mining (building weapons, ammo, stations and ships), trading (moving resources around), etc.
Only PvE doesn't contribute, directly, but is good training.
I've not looked into exploration, so not sure about that.

I subscribed again after a year, and found a base-builder ship I got given in my hanger. So, after playing PvE on and off for a decade, I've just build my first mining base on a planet Free money, it appears, once the base it set up and running.

I've been reading some more about it, and I'd still like to give it a try. Probably in the new year, but I'll likely run away screaming like a little girl whenever somebody attacks me.
