Is a stompa worth it at 3000pts? My list is fast moving and has only lootas on foot by boyz are all in wagons or trukks I use deffkoptas to flank and dakkajets for reinforcement.

I'm not sure on the stompa it seems a lot of points and I don't think it would make its points back but I haven't used one or come across one in a game thoughts?

I have a stompa and have only gotten to use it a few times. However, it is a great kit to build, paint, and use. It may be expensive, and may not make its points back, but it is a really fun addition to your army. I believe that it can move 12" so it should be able to keep up with your trukks and wagons relatively easily, and can even hold some boyz (or nobz) I believe, so it's not a bad little superheavy. I am not familiar with the new apocalypse rules so I may be wrong on some of these points.

To me, when else are you going to be able to field a stompa? You might as well use it if you've got it

One stompa is not too bad. 3 or more is nasty to deal with. things can dish some pretty crazy damage out.

Well, as a Stompa you mean the superheavy from the APO book?
Its more that 700 points and has some nasty weapons to shoot and additionally its cc weapons are TK.
Its definitely worth the points.

Today, I got a (partly assembled) Stompa from Ebay, 60 Euro is a real bargain.

never used one since i avoid apoc games, but im assuming stompas follow the motto of the orks - if its worth taking 1, its worth taking 3. There isnt a damn thing in our codex that works well on its own, apoc or otherwise (yes ive read the stats for FW ork stuff, i just dont use them) because its singled out too easily.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

If you have an assault based Ork list I would also recommend the Klawstompa. It doesn't have all of its rules updated, so there is still a question of how far it can assault (I personally think 3d6 is a fair compromise, though also just giving it assured 12" works as well) It's not as shooty, but can unleash a fairly decent 1st round barrage and then basically just rushes in and starts stomping stuff.

I have fielded a number of Stompas, usually 1 at a time, sometimes 2 at a time (I am planning to work my way up to 3) and most assuredly agree that 1 is good, 2 is better, and 2 (or more) is bestest when it comes to Stompas. Lots of armies can dismantle a single Stompa in one round, dealing with 2+ gets more problematic.

In fact, in our apoc games a single superheavy is being killed too easily, since stripping off hull points generally works pretty well.
