So I have a mechguard list that I've been tinkering with and I came up with this one for a game I played the other night with an SM friend, we didn't get to finish the game but I quite enjoyed what I came up with. While my chimeras sped up to the objectives with the tanks moving up with them, firing away, the manticores and MOO's rained death down on the enemy. I stuck the CCS's in buildings(we have a city board) to do this.
HQ -
CCS -
2x Autocannons
1x MOO
CCS -
2x Autocannons
1x MOO
Elite -
Marbo(always take him cause he's fun)
Troops:
Vets, Chimera, x3 Melta
Vets, Chimera, x3 Melta
Vets, Chimera, x3 Plasma
Vets, Chimera, x3 Plasma
Fast Attack:
Hellhound
Heavy Support:
2x Manticores
2x Punishers with HB hull & sponsons
2x Exterminators with HB hull & sponsons.
I think I put a camo netting on one of the manticores and the hellhound to round out my points to 1850. I may have missed an upgrade or two but I just wanted to get the general idea for the list down. Automatically Appended Next Post: Woops, made a small error... I used Exterminators NOT Executioners.
Just finished painting my 3 Executioner plasma weapons so was on my brain lol.

Well you can only have 1 heavy weapon in your ccs so your list is currently illegal. You need to drop a auto cannon from each squad.

gak... I just reread it and you're right. I read the "replace 2 veterans" as since there's 4 you can take 2 of them lol. Doesn't really matter as they pretty much did nothing, was just a point sink. Easily fixed, what about the rest of the list?

Ok well personally, I love punishers, but I never take more than one. And if I do take it I put pask in it as your hit counts goes up massively. Especially with heavy bolter sponsons. As for the ccs squads, I always put either 4 plasma or 4'melta in them and load them up in a vendetta/chimera. Never really been a fan or the moo as it always scatters not matter if a hit is rolled or not. And if you roll an arrow it's 3d6 scatter instead of 2d6. And the average on 3d6 is 10-11 which is a complete miss unless your playing a horde army like orks where they have hundreds of boys running at you. Also other than the 2 vet melta squads you have no anti av13-14. So if your chimeras are popped then you will struggle. A clever player will pop them straight away. I would switch one punisher for a vanquisher. Also other than your 2 plasma vets your ap2-3 is none existent. I would switch one exterminator for a vanilla leman Russ with no sponsons because if you fire the ordnance then you snap shot any other weapon. If you do this and droop both master of ordnance and one ccs then you can load up on specials on your first ccs and get them a ride too.

Well... thank you again Martin haha, I'm missing all these little things :-/. Better to find out now. Thanks!
I wasn't going to worry about not having alot of AP 1-3 because of the sheer volume of shots I'm putting out normally counter-weighs that but... if I can't squadron the manticores and with the MOO's missing as mentioned above maybe I need to rethink how I'll pump so many wounds out to not include them.

at 1850, I usually have two manticore and a squad of two Exterminators (las cannon/heavy bolters). I play mech/vets also.
My list isn't too different than yours: However, I see no reason to run to CCS. I run a CCS/ plasma gun x3, grenade launcher, with a chimera. I also run an ADL with quad gun. The CCS hangs out by the ADL and the Col (whatever it is called in the codex) runs the quad gun, so, he orders, and fires. The chimera is usually running in front giving the other three chimeras (with plasma and melta vets x2) cover.
I have never been a fan of the hell hound. it has great potential, and for the most part, draws alot of fire till it is gone. which, is usually the first turn. Try running a Vendetta for same point costs.

I have had some great success with my hellhound, I actually have 2 vendettas if I feel like being competitive but I partially design my lists around a "fun theme" and just post them once in awhile to see if I'm making rules mistakes(which you all helpfully pointed out).
I was actually using manticores for the first time that game, I run a Panzer Division themed army so I usually have a ton of LR's squadded up with a Commisar Lord attached to one of the many vet squads to bump up my scoring units instead of spending a chimera on a 4-man, non scoring unit.
