Hello everyone. I am finally starting a blog primarily for my Orks here on Dakka. I started my Ork army in the beginning of 6th edition in anticipation of the (hopefully) upcoming codex. The goal is to have a fully painted core of an Ork army before they get a 6th edition codex, and so far the progress is slow, but steady.
Here are two pictures of units I painted before I started this blog so you can get an idea of my painting style. As you can see, I like my Orks dirty and gritty, with plenty of battle damage and weathering:
I also like tanks
a lot, so I have a hard time pulling myself together to paint the core of my infantry, but I already have something like 6 vehicles completely painted. Any advice on getting motivation for painting infantry? I love Orks, but there are just so many of them.
Now to the first blog update:
So I purchased a totally busted up Rhino from eBay for a few pounds. It's the very oldest Rhino model out there, but I had no qualms about "looting" it because it was assembled so poorly and completely damaged in every sort of way:
I wanted to make a looted wagon for my Orks, as it is every Ork player's rite of passage.
And now the boomgun in the form of a chopped down Earthshaker gun:
It's made from an old Rhino, a dozer blade from a Chimera, the gun from a Bassilisk, some armour plates, bits from the Trukk kit, and the gunner from the Battlewagon kit, with the head from the Ork Dakkajet.
I intend to paint it in the same style as my Trukk and Wartrakk in the first picture. I can post how I do it if anyone is interested, but I mainly follow the advice from this blog:
