I have an 1850, really 1848, list that I want to increase to 2000 pts.
Any suggestions?
I was contemplating just throwing an Avatar in there with some upgrades spread around for the fun factor.
This is my TAC list that has been faring very well over the past months.
HQ
-Autarch (Fusion Gun; Laser Lance; Jetbike; Mantle of the Laughing God)
-Farseer (Jetbike; Singing Spear)
-Warlock (Singing Spear)
TROOP
-10 Guardian Defenders
---Wave Serpent (TL Scatter Lasers; Holo-Fields)
-10 Guardian Defenders
---Wave Serpent (TL Scatter Lasers; Holo-Fields)
-6 Rangers
-10 Storm Guardians (Flamer x2)
---Wave Serpent (TL Scatter Lasers; Holo-Fields)
FAST
-Crimson Hunter
-4 Shining Spears (Exarch; Star Lance; Monster Hunter)
-6 Swooping Hawks (Exarch; Sunrifle)
HEAVY
-Falcon (Bright Lance; Spirit Stones; Holo-Fields)
-Night Spinner (Holo-Fields)
-3 Vaul's Wrath Support Battery (Vibro Cannon)
1848/1850
I can lose the Warlock Spear and the Spirit Stones with no trouble if needed

Once you hit 2k points, an extra troop choices would be nice. I think buying some Guardian Jetbikes for that Farseer to bunker into would be very helpful...as right now he is very vunlerable.
After that, I'd invest in some Elite slots to help flesh out your options even in smaller games. Fire Dragons are a solid choice, as are Wraithguard. Putting them in a Serpent would be nice too.

Also keep in mind that I can take another Fast or Heavy.
Fire Dragons or 5 stock wraithguard with a spiritseer sound great too. Automatically Appended Next Post: Farseer Faenyin wrote:Once you hit 2k points, an extra troop choices would be nice. When need be he simple joins the Vibrocannons...which have yet to be killed by an opponent.

The falcon is there to be a mobile high strength boat that can move between cover so my opponent doesn't benefit...it also usually allows my rangers to get linebreaker when I have opponents they wont do much against. Automatically Appended Next Post: I also don't need Shadow Weavers due to the number of serpent shots as well as the nightspinner.

I really like your list - you're using some units that definitely don't see enough time, especially if the internet is to be believed with 5-man DA serpent spam lists galore.
Do you find that you need all 3 wave serpents? Because if you dropped one out you'd have room for a larger unit of shining spears, which is where I assume you put your autarch. If that was bumped up to 6, along with the exarch and autarch, you're looking at a pretty scary unit that people might underestimate. That'd still leave you room to add in a wraithlord, which is another underutilized unit that might just get ignored. Throw a glaive, 2 flamers and some bright lances on him and you'd be able to replace the storm guardian dual flamer blob if you wanted to.
Obviously if you like the 3 WS setup it's a whole different story.
You could always just throw in 4 reapers with starshot (152 pts IIRC) which puts you exactly at 2000.

The Reapers are an interesting thought.
They fit my theme.
Turn 1: Survive.
Turn 2: Punishment.
With the Autarch they could definitely deal some damage walking in from reserves. Slow and Purposeful is pretty nice there.
I really do need the 3rd Serpent for the mobility of my rather fragile troops.
My Autarch is a Solitaire...so he's running solo. My Farseer likes to ride with the Spears until they take off and then he usually joins up with Hawks or Vaul's for safety.
I tried that exact Wraithlord loadout...2 of them with a very similar list actually...running into too much sniper and poison in my meta.

i guess i should clarify... what does the falcon do that wave serpents don't ?
is it because you don't want serpent spam so you get a falcon to make the list friendlier? because in that case it makes since.
i understand your point on the vibro cannons, makes scence.

The falcon is useful for giving me a little more anti AV13+ and is exceptionally good at taking care of pesky multiwound T4 models...especially alongside my hunter. There are Paladins in my meta.

You think this is worth it?
I am considering their damage ouput versus survivability...but then again...they'd be less of a target than everything else in my list.

They'd be pretty versatile for you. They've got nice range, and at 4 S8 AP3 or 8 S5 AP3 they can do some real damage. With your other threats going on they might go un-targeted the first turn or two, and once people have to turn and deal with your warp spiders they could really shine.
They'd be especially good against Eldar or other armies that rely on jinks. A waveserpent is great, but one that's hit by 4(2/3)(1/2)=1.33 glances or better per turn (no save other than cover) is definitely nice, and that's just from these four guys. In addition, think of a squad of a. jetbikes or b. vypers - if they come out in the open, you're at a. 8(2/3)(5/6) = 4.44 wounds without a jink save, b. 4(2/3)(5/6) = 2.22 HP no jink save.
This is obviously assuming a bunch of variables, but if I was playing any Eldar list I'd hate to see an opponent with maxed out reaper squads. Wave serpents, falcons, fire prisms, vypers and jetbikes all love their jink saves, and the reaper rangefinder's ability to ignore them is a killer. I'd at least be fun to try, and with the small model count and easy integration you're not losing much to test em out.
