Till now there are so many 40k games under construction
Slitherine's Panzercorps-like wargame Armageddon aiming for Q1, 2014 on PC/MAC/IOS/ANDROID
Herocraft's free-2-play collectible card game Space Wolf aiming for Q2, 2014 on PC/IOS/ANDROID
Storm Of Vengeance by Eutechnyx aiming for spring, 2014 on PC/IOS/ANDROID
Focus' FPS game using UE4 engine, Space Hulk Deathwing aiming for 2014 on PC/PS4/XBOX1
Behaviour's Space Marine-style Planetside 2-like MMO Eternal Crusade aiming for late 2015 on PC/PS4/XBOX1
and Full Control's Space Hulk already come out (it is different from the FPS game above)
Also there are 2 unannounced titles: a space marine-theme mobile game by roadhouse and a free-2-play social titan game by zattika

This is a prime example of a company diluting its IP with dubious licensing agreements in an attempt to grab as much cash as possible.
Licensing does work very well if you chose products that will reflect well on your IP (Relic did a good job with DoW and ok with Space Marine) but when you start licensing F2P mobile games things have gone seriously wrong. GW really needs to begin applying some genuine quality control.
Of all the GW licensed games that are in production the only two that I am remotely hopeful will be any good are the Slitherine strategy game (although I have doubts about this one) and the Warhammer Total war game that Creative Assembly are working on (and CA have gone of the boil recently).

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.
-Leman Russ, Meditations on Imperial Command book XVI (AKA the RT era White Dwarf Commpendium).
Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Really? I'd say Eternal Crusade is the most likely to be worth while. Creative assembly has been putting out utter gak lately.

The only ingame footage that I have seen of the Eternal crusade has generic written all over it. It may be successful but I doubt that it will actually be good, plus it is being developed for consoles which is rarely a good sign.
CA do seem to have moved into 'AAA' territory but their pedigree is good, Warhammer is a near perfect setting for a TW game and Rome 2 wasn't all that bad, its main problem was that it was released before it was ready. The main worry for me is that the Warhammer game was being developed in parallel with Rome 2 but by a new team but in fairness that may well be a strength.

Pre-alpha footage over a year before beta looks generic..? There was hardly anything to see in the first place.
And it's not being developed for consoles, it's being developed for PC, they are considering going to consoles in later stages depending on wether or not they can mesh it with the new systems methods of monetization etc.
As for CA, every game they have released in recent years have been giant piles of bugs that were pushed out months too early. I don't see how that makes their pedigree good...

The pre alpha footage was enough to show the concept behind the game. Graphics and the like are meaningless at this stage of development as they are effectively placeholders but fundamental game mechanics are not likely to change.
It is being co developed for consoles (according to the FAQ on the main site) and that does not bode well for the games that I want to play as console games are inevitably 'streamlined' due to the need to design gameplay that will work on a joypad.
CA have a good pedigree as they have been making good, accessable, strategy games for over a decade. They aren't as good as they used to be but they are still a good developer.

What I just said about consoles is what Miguel Caron himself said in the last AMA stream.
Besides, Planetside 2 is also on consoles, didn't hamper that one.
Anyway, oppinions and such. I'm hopeful for it and to me it looked good, I loved Space Marine and seeing them use that combat system pleases me.

Anything to do with 40k that has come out after THQ has been noting but rubbish, just look at SM! They wasted a perfect opportunity upon a mediocre game with a horrid story( even for 40k) and a horrid looking world! I will NEVER understand how they managed to make a forgeworld look so bland and unitersting, and would it be too much to ask for something else than Orks & Spikey Maries?

Dark Millenium ruined itself I'm afraid and I actually liked Firewarror (at least until i hit a game ending bug ).

How else did you expect a forge world to look..? Full of colour and happiness? They are supposed to be bleak things.

Forge Worlds are meant to look bleak and industrialized. Well, imperial forge worlds anyway. Heretical Forge Worlds would be a bit more interesting, I would imagine.

i don't feel the need to randomly slag off crappy mobile/f2p games, and i don't think they're nessesarily hurtful to 40k.
I think a high profile flop would be worse. Like a hypothetical Space Maine 2 where they change the background so that the imperium is really cool and multicultural and the space marines fight for truth and honour, feth yeah! That would just be awful.

Actually the IoM is already multicultural. The IoM doesn't care what skin color you have and what culture you had on your home world. As long as you show complete loyalty to the Emperor and pay taxes, you won't receive a visit from your friendly neighborhood commissar.

The only major issue I've been having with Creative Assembly is their making battles more arcade style, giving units 'magic powers' and a lack of historical realism. Setting a game in the Warhammer universe neatly solves all my issues with that. Hopefully they take the extra month to fix everything instead of relying on post launch patches like with Rome 2; but Rome ended up being pretty good after all was said and done.
And if they have workshop integration like the last few total war games....

true. I meant more like multi xeno cultural, or something. Humanity's hatred of xeno, even ones that are not immediately threatening, is one of its defining features in 40k. The imperium is more like a fascistic state, as opposed to the federation in star trek which is based on the united nations.

I know that, but I expect it a bit more grim & forboding than you know, just the odd complex to stroll trough, or the odd ruined habblock. I had hoped for far more manufacturoms and such, but there where a few notebal expecptions. The only lvl I liked was the Inqusitorial labs. And on a side note, the place needed far more mutilated bodies
