Subject: New Escalation Expansion; Any Early Ideas?

Rough Rider with Boomstick

New WD came through my door today. In it, and yes there are spoilers sorry, there's an expansion that allows Super-Heavies (and Gargantuan Creatures) in regular 40k! at last that Stompa has a purpose and I have an excuse for a Baneblade.
Anyway, this obviously opens up a whole world of new opportunities for SHV users, and those who have to face them. So has anyone any tactic ideas for what they'd do with the new SHV, or how to take them down without one of your own, especially seen as there aren't any strategic assets

Not sure about using them, but in metas where superheavies are allowed, I can see anything with melta and DS capabilities becoming very popular. Melta stormtroopers, Combi-sternguard.
Just as a more general question that I think fits in with this thread, with Super-heavies being usable in normal games with this, do you see yourself taking them over codex units. For example, would a tau player want to take a SH instead of putting the points into Riptides and markers?

I see your point. Though, Tau SHs aren't the best IMO and a Riptide is very good for its points I think. Whether an Eldar player would swap his Wraithknight for a Revenant Titan is another matter... And whether an IG player would ditch a LRBT squadron for a Baneblade or variant

Yeah, tau was just an example. Really, the question is this: Is 500 points in one vehicle/creature better that equal points in multiples that can bring more versatility, force more splitting of firepower, and can't be killed in one shot?
I know that, given the choice between a Banblade and a couple of Russes+artillery pieces, I'd rather go with the latter option. I'm interested to see what people think.

Yeah me too. Be interesting, cos if it was me I'd pick a Baneblade/Stormlord for sheer DAKKA!
The other point though is, if you do choose the SH, what do you pair it with? And how do you deal with it if you don't have your own?

I would not assume that the Escalation superheavies are the same as the Apoc ones, even with the very same model. rules will probably differ between apoc and escalation.

The Lord of Skulls has the same cost and (if my small-print reading is decent) just the same rules. So I think they are direct copy+paste from Apoc

Escalation tactics: bring Warhound titan with two turbolasers, win game. There, now you don't have to waste money on this "expansion".

Followed by GK allies to cast warp quake every turn and make it impossible to deep strike near the titan.

Of course they will. Railsharks are awesome, the D-weapon kills vehicles/fortifications/etc, and then once those targets are gone you have a 10" marine-killing blast that can ignore cover for a mere two markerlight hits.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Maybe, but even from the short time between IA3 2ED and the new Apoc book, the orca price changed by 25%.
The fact the clown god is the same does not apply for everything, and its very possible they basic superheavy rules are diferent in a way that matters.
