I'm going to be buying the kit today. Whats better? I primarily face AV12 fliers. Or should I magnetize?

Stalker. Statistically better and has some utility against things like Wave Serpents and skimmers.

The Stalker will hit far more often since it's twin-linked, but if the Hunter hits the flier it hits is going down.

Firing on AV 12 Flier, assuming 3 HP and no save, it'll take about ~326 points of Hunters to per destroyed result and ~371 points of Stalkers. This is ignoring the Hunter's ability to hit the turn after.

In other words, the Hunter puts out more damage output against AV 12 fliers per point it costs than the Stalker. However, you'll have to weigh if the Stalker's split fire option is worth consideration over the Hunter.

I would say buy another model, but i, myself will buy one at some point, for collection purposes.
Probably the Stalker is a bit better

The best answer, always and under every circumstance is: MAGNETIZE
You never know what the future edition will bring

Stalkers are not great. Single-target mode is pretty reliable with 4 TL BS 4 shots, but dual-target is a straight-up trap, giving up TL and firing at BS 2. S 7 AP 4 is on the light side for serious anti-air duty, so you'll probably end up trying to kill things by stripping hull points. Durability-wise it's an up-armored Rhino, but the lack of Interceptor means it can't actually stop a flyer incursion until after at least two enemy shooting phases, which is plenty of time for it to get shot up before doing any good.

If you're not willing to get your own flyers I'd go with the Hunter instead. S 7 AP 2 with Armourbane is much more likely to penetrate and outright kill something, and Savant Lock means you never truly miss Flyers or FMCs unless they run off the table and hide for a turn.

I've still got to assemble mine, but as far as I can tell the guns don't have any pieces in common, so you should be able to assemble both and swap them out as needed.

I'll be buffing up the sides of a pair of Rhinos, so I can swap the hatch out for the Stalker and Hunter. It rules out using them as a Predator later, but makes a kick-arse Razorback.

As for which is best, not sure yet.

Why not just magnetize the weapon systems so you can choose the loadout you want based on what list you put it in.
